ONE ISLAND The Film (Full Documentary 2023 1080p FullHD)

One island, two countries: For more than 100 years Ireland has been split into British Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. This divide has only been exaggerated by Brexit as the people of Northern Ireland had to leave the European Union together with the rest of the UK in 2020 – even though the majority of voters in “Ulster” voted for “Remain” just four years prior.

The controversial EU-exit is now boosting Irish nationalist forces that might have been forgotten since the Good Friday Agreement and the end of the “Troubles”: Both republicans parties like Sinn Fein and militant dissident groups like the New IRA. While Sinn Fein has become the biggest political party in both Northern Ireland and the republic, the New IRA is already rated as a top security threat by the British Security Forces.

This 60-minute documentary investigates in five chapters how Brexit has fuelled the Irish nationalist movement and questions how realistic the dream of a United Ireland really is today. From Belfast over (London)Derry to the coastal town of Drogheda, meet former enemies from both sides of the Troubles, radical Republicans and those trying to make a positive change who all share ONE ISLAND.

  1. With 3 Nobel Prizes in Literature, there's an underlying intellectual current that has my admiration as a person from the other side of the world. Their search for peace is difficult & admirable.

  2. Ruining a great documentary by trying to overly dramatic with stupid background music behind the dialogue! As if the content isn't dramatic enough, christ knows you don't need to ramp it up!!

  3. Bigger worries than the North atm, the south is being invaded and nothing being done about that. The silence from a certain faction speaks volumes

  4. 26:00 you use Irish the same you would use Spanish and French? You mean foreign languages? But Gaeilge is NOT a foreign language. It is the indigenous language of the island of Ireland, almost eradicated by the genocide of the British Empire. The unfortunate truth is that if you depoliticise everything, you just end up reinforcing the status quo by default. At the end of the day, the 6 counties are a territory occupied by a foreign power (the British state). Britain is occupying Ireland, not the other way around. The situation is not symmetrical.

  5. 57% of NI voters opposed Brexit. Those who seek a United Ireland need to sell to a majority of NI voters that they will be better off economically as a part of EU member Ireland than alone with an isolated UK. You might see greater support for a United Ireland from even Unionists if Scotland were to declare Independence. The other thing I think Republicans should consider is a proposal that after 10 years of successful reunification Ireland move its capitol to Belfast. The lure of power might diminish the attachment to England among the Unionists.

  6. Reunification of Ireland is a legitimate political goal. The IRA sought to achieve that by means of violence. Sinn Fein sought the same goal, but to achieve it by political means. I think we can all agree that the Sinn Fein method is preferable. Therefore, we should not criticise it but encourage it.

  9. If you don’t consider yourself Irish and you consider yourself English but your living in ireland then move.. move to where you love and consider home. Don’t blame Irish people because you feel different or indifferent; that’s not our fault … have that out with your ancestors who made the choices to lead you where you are today.

  10. Paddy Gallagher. What a tool! He fails to understand the principle of consent of both sides of the divide. At the moment, Northern Ireland remains a constituent part of the the UK. Hence the PSNI. When the demographic change, there may be a successful vote to reunite with the south of the island. He also fails on 2 other counts: 1) The people of the Republic may not vote to accept reunification – especially when they know people like him in NI will not accept the status quo in the Republic. 2) There are many Catholics in NI who will also not vote to rejoin the Republic as they see themselves better off within the UK – healthcare free at the point of delivery being just one of those reasons.
If the 'New IRA' (or whatever they call themselves this week) start any violence in the Republic, they will be mercilessly crushed by the Gardaí and the Defence forces. If they thought the RUC and British Army were harsh, they will get a huge culture shock!

  12. Luckily if you could find one Republican in thousand.
    Who knows the following
IRA gave up the armed struggle in 1972, and concentrated on the ballot box, as they came to the conclusion that due the majority of the Northern Ireland did not, and would not support them .
It took the Provincial IRA another thirty years with thousands of deaths, tens thousands injured to come to the same conclusion.
Get a Library card, and investigate yourself, never just rely on what other people say.

  13. People of Gaels – you are of ONE blood – DIVIDED by two facets of a Satanic ruled religion – The Catholic Pope & Cardinals worship Satan so does it’s offshoot Protestantism – please research both Religions and their corrupt political HIERARCHIES.

You are ALL VICTIMS – of DIVISIVE “DIVIDE & RULE/CONQUER” politics – nothing to do with your FAITH IN THE ALMIGHTY 🙏🏼✨

  14. I am English with Irish connections. Like a lot of people. There is no point leaving the Uk to join southern Ireland as southern Ireland is a satellite state of the globalist controlled European Union. They do not care for their traditions, the values, history, or the culture of any of the people from these islands. If Northern Ireland wants to protect its identity, it needs to leave both the UK and southern Ireland to become an independent state. That way I can then look after its own values and protect its own customs, traditions and history which are unique otherwise, you’ll end up with a rainbow flag instead of any flags. It’s not about money it’s about history culture and being independent
