  1. For Thousand Sons, if you want to stretch your Rubricae a little, you can buy a normal box of Rubric Marines and your favorite mark of HH tactical marines, and kitbash them together to get 30 Rubricae for ~$140 instead of the ~$185 it would normally cost

  2. SO I MADE A LITTLE RESEARCH
    here in Hungary the base price for the astra militarum combat patrol can be as low as 113 usd without the 5% coupon
    with all discounts applied, and cheapest places searched up:
    2x combat patrol = 214 $ around 710 points [2 scout sentinels version, and no enhancement applied ]
    1x leman russ (with demolisher cannon) tank commander 46 $ = 205 points
    1x hydra 47,5 $ = 85 points
    TOTAL = 307,5 $ = 1000 points.
    But of course this is the 2nd most budget option for 1k
    THE CHEAPEST ->
    1x combat patrol = 107 $ = 355 points ( still only scout sentinel version and no enhancement applied )
    1x baneblade = 133 $ = 480 points
    1x vindicare assassin = around 30 $ = 150 points OR 160 or more ( depends on what superheavy you roll with for a leman russ for 46 $
    TOTAL = 286 $ = around 1k with leman russ
    TOTAL = 270 $ = around 1k with vindicare assassin

    This only includes my country's 27% tax rate, and not the shipping fee.

  3. I've been obsessing over points-per-dollar of my favorite armies now, and the only real things killing the Guard army here are the Bullgryn and Chimera, and the Basilisk isn't terribly great either.
    If you want a real cheapo regiment, I'd sub those out for a Manticore and maybe another Russ, or a bigger tank like a Rogal Dorn or even a Malcador if you have the points.
    Remember, you can proxy both Russes ($65) and the Malcador ($92) with their 30k kits. It's only five dollars cheaper for the Russ, but the Malcador is a 250 point 'we have Rogal Dorns at home' type tank, and you can build it as an Annihilator which is 270 points, only behind Tank Commanders and Demolishers at the top of the points-per-dollar game in Guard.

    My only fear there is that the only 40k Malcador is a Forge World kit, and they may just Legends that instead of letting you bring the 30k model, in which case the $15 more expensive, 10 point cheaper Dorn feels a lot safer.

  4. The craziest thing is if you max build the Custodes combat patrol, as in, make every captain option that comes in the instructions, you will actually have a nearly PERFECT 1,000 point list after putting in some enhancements

  5. One good reason to bring Morty in a 1k list is pair him with a lord of contagion with deathly pathogen on him, and 6 deathshroud. Get Morty to be a big bullet sponge on no mans land and and rapid ingress the loc and deathshroud on whatever enemy unit is causing the most problems or you feel the NEED to kill, and literally incinerate them. If they’re within 6” of Morty you can give them benefit of cover to ensure maximum chance of survival in case of like another dreadnought or termis around then still and deathly pathogen gives the loc +2 attacks and strength if within range of an infected objective which Morty will be holding.
    Kind of dependent on the enemy being relatively close, but is basically an alt+f4 on anything less then an imperial or chaos knight. Could bring typhus in place of loc but I prefer loc in this combo for the higher dmg potential with deathly pathogen + the reroll melee hit rolls for all the deathshroud and himself
    His melee is equivalent with typhus with deathly pathogen’s baseline +1 atk and str

  6. Custodes might be an overall cheap army, but damn that Sisters of Silence box. Its the most outrageous box out of any army asking $60 USD for 5 guard size models when most other armies get at least double that count for the same price (or less!)

  7. the AdMech one hurts as an AdMech player. Thank fuck did I start collecting them slowly throughout Covid. I swear to god I spent roughly 500€-800€ on them and I still barely scrape 2000 poinst, its ridiculous

  10. Very interesting exercice. I am mainly interrested in army list that can start with a kill team, go to a boarding action list and combat patrol,list and end in the 1000 pts of 40k army list.

  11. Auspex, the Yeagers are NAFF in the Votann, they are literally cannon-fodder and not worth their points, underequipped because of the 5+ armour save & they rely (currently) on the Plasma Knives for major threats, they should be a 2nd squad of Hernkyn Pioneers for scoring and mobility
