On August 25, 2024, to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, the world premiere of Oleh Bezborodko’s Unbroken Symphony took place at the Lviv Organ Hall. The symphony was commissioned by the directors of the Organ Hall, Ivan Ostapovych and Taras Demko. On October 1, to mark Defenders’ Day, Radio Kultura published the first recording of the Symphony.
The premiere performance by the Luhansk Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ivan Ostapovych, was truly triumphant. Bezborodko’s incredible program music intertwined scenes of war, the audacious image of the russian invasion, along with dreams of a happy and peaceful future, and the energy of freedom and unity that will undoubtedly lead Ukrainians to Victory.
Each of the five movements of the Unbroken Symphony is filled with profound ideas, clever symbols, and vivid imagery that make this music extraordinarily poetic and original.
