They recorded this live.
Id give my right arm to see them do this live with a choir and an orchestra. Wow.
They're not professionally trained.
Funny enough no, they didnt listen to LZ and such growing up, they listened to the stuff that inspired LZ
How does his voice just keep getting better. Wow, love these guys!
This is what the band said about the song in the email announcing its release; "Meeting the Master peers into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher. Sung in the voice of a devout believer, and eventual group exclamation, the song details the love these fervent followers have for their teacher and their firm belief in his vision. It's an exotic spiritual journey. A dark comedy that inevitably ends in chaos."
Hey, I was born in 1973 and I'm not an old man. Lol.
Also on the last show of their tour that just ended. They played 5 songs that will be on the new album. And 3 of them were more rock heavy, this was probably the most mellow one. So you’ve got some more rocking stuff to look forward to.
What I have notice is this .While on their last album they were moving away a bit form the Zep influence to become something of their own while remaining embedded in 1970s classic rock but for this song, I think they barrowed from the beginning of Zeppelin's song Thank You with the opening guitar and they just kept it going through the first half of the song before cutting loose at mid point. I really like the song, I think it is great they can do the more slower stuff along with the hard hitting rockers. Meeting The Master has more of a Zep III feel. This is very hope sign for the new album. Perhaps you will like this song even more when hearing it within the content of a full album. 🙂
Josh works with renown Nashville vocal coach Ron Browning, who he credits with saving his voice from certain ruin. I think we all owe Ron a debt of gratitude,
Heard this song live for the first time ever and I will never forget it.
It’s giving Triumph- Magic Power! Beautiful! ❤
Great video, loved the intro straight to the point “I like them that’s it”… I recommend you watch their Red Rocks Act 2 video on YouTube if you haven’t yet 🙂
Honestly I think it’s because they are one of those bands where you can clearly hear their influences. They have been able to develop their own sound, sure, but they have a sound that is so familiar yet so unique for the current generation of music that it’s simply not common anymore. I say it’s a gift to be inspired by a band who isn’t making music anymore and to be able to use their talent to bring that type of music back, many just don’t understand or appreciate it. It’s a hell of a lot better than the stuff you hear on the radio today.
Actually, they are all self trained even Josh. I believe later on after a couple of albums, he had a little training due to some of the issues he was having with allergies but no, he had no professional training and right most of l lyrics to the music. They are amazing live so we’re seeing.
I hear ELP in this song.
This was also recorded live at their concert
By the words and the sights….I think the master is the Sun.
No other band has the burden of proving that they are who they are more than GVF. Reactors and detractors gleefully ramble on with disparaging comparisons only to finally BEGRUDGINGLY admit that GVF is unique in and of themselves and do not need creative crutches to compose and perform music worthy of standing on it's own merits. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
Awesome Video, I don't think it as much spiritual as you think, the backstory is about some master, and then everything goes wrong and the master and his kingdom comes crumbling down, or something along those lines, it would be much more easier to understand with the entire album out so that the story could connect, anyway, great video
