No, this seriously is not clickbait.
I managed to get a transcript on a private interview for Vaxtus’ on this album, which began production in early 2020, right after his hit “Thermostat” came out.
Interviewer: “Let’s first start off with Doormat, what was this song referring to?”
Vaxtus: “I don’t like this guy named matt. Some dude who was like, a d*ck.”
Interviewer: “And what about feed the flame? what was your thought process?”
Vaxtus: “I was just simply saying I was a big new person in the scene, I don’t really know.”
Interviewer: “This one stuck out to me a bit, what was ‘do it’ about?”
Vaxtus: “I don’t know, I say “let’s do dumb sh*t”, and I say “I lost that shit like kurt cobain, got no brain, ayayayay” which i kinda guess the whole song is really about being dumb. I really don’t know it’s just weird lyrics.”
Interviewer: “Hey well that’s pretty cool. What about John Doe?”
Vaxtus: “I made a lot of references to reptilians and the government, the Blair witch project, I think I said something about being in your head, and “hey its fred” which are both references to krueger and fred, the viral youtube star of the early 2010s.”
Interviewer: “stop?”
Vaxtus: “Right, right. Basically you’ve got an STD, I’ve got b*tches and I’m going to fight you.
Interviewer: “I see. Let’s talk downward, one of the shorter tracks on the album”
Vaxtus: “uhh, I don’t even remember how downward goes.”
Interviewer: “..Okay. Love letter was another stick-out for me. You really sang your heart out there. Was that for someone? What was it referring to?”
Vaxtus: “Relationship Issues, simply.”
Interviewer: “Drown. I seem to remember there was an unreleased music video for this one, as this was going to be teaser for the new album. Explain this one to me.”
Vaxtus: “I guess I am f*cking around like which is mentioned in a previous song, a lot of f*cking around. this song is a little more laid back, and I say why can’t you explain these things, why am I the one to blame, is basically explaining how I feel the blame when someone doesn’t fully explain what they mean and make out to be my fault. You feel like they’re coming from some mindset that doesn’t make sense.”
Interviewer: “We all have moments like that sometimes. On to one of my favorite pieces from this album, daily activities 2. I really enjoyed the first one back when code four was live on digital platforms, sucks it got taken down. Is this why you made it? or is there another reason to it?”
Vaxtus: “I wanted to make a sequel to the first one.”
Interviewer: “Simple.. I see. What about ‘certified vendor’?”
Vaxtus: “I think at one point I said .. like a shelf racks call me the spender, yeah. I’m not too sure this was a bit ago”.
Interviewer: “One of the more chill and sad songs, on this album, it’s okay to feel down?”
Vaxtus: “I guess it’s old, it’s a really old song and it had to lot to do with covid and how I was isolated and doing nothing, and I had a right to feel bad like we all did.”
Interviewer: “Tell me about ‘melting in the snow'”.
Vaxtus: “..Love.”
Interviewer: “Nice, Phineas and Ferb?”
Vaxtus: “smoking and killing people even though I don’t actually, the lyrics don’t make a lot of sense I don’t feel like. It’s all pretty much ‘I don’t like you’.”
Interviewer: “Makes sense, ohh and I really liked this one, what about ‘when I die’?”
Vaxtus: “does anyone actually care about me and am I gonna die alone, the song.”
Interviewer: “And lastly to wrap this up, the RodBent remix of your track from your last ep, ‘The Game'”.
Vaxtus: “well RodBent made that remix a long time ago, and it’s pretty good. I don’t know what to really say about it.”
Interviewer: “Thanks for your time Vaxtus!”
