  2. Great episode again boys,Dylan maybe get a bigger sd card so you can dribble longer, nice way to spend a Wednesday arvo for me.Regarding the bigger channels once they start getting $150-200000 vans and $10000 battery systems, way out of reach for a lot of people eg TIAV and SKT,I unsubscribe, feel free to use comment 👍

  3. Funny how Lil and Jake put up a 12 month review of his canopy saying how great it is,then following week hes got a new Prado, just a big toyota ad I'm thinking, the bigger these channels get less believable and relatable🤔

  4. 0:55 if you were together, Lloyd would've just looked away, like my miniature Daschy does when he's piss off at me.

I suspect that this is a Comment. With 35 mins to go, this is going to be a target rich environment.

  5. My 2 cents with the Pardo is that it 'looks' like a Discovery clone to look at. Obviously that is cosmetic which IMHO covers 80% of buyers. Happy to share. And great job, cheers 😎🍻

  6. Yep the Jeep does have disconnect sway bars on Rubicon models. I’ll happily go up against any of these prado’s with my Gladiator on any track and I promise to help recover them each time needed 😂

Regards to set ups personally the bigger they get the less interesting I find it. For us we love off grid and heading down true challenging trails which the bigger rigs just don’t fit down.

    Each to their own 👌

  7. 09:55 overlanders may see dead-standing trees painted blue on their travels and travails. This is a sign that they, a community somewhere close, supports a Mens Shed or Mental Health more widely. Womens DV refuges, have decided deciduously, not to advertise their prescience, good guys can wok it out, but are screened.

I'm nominating The Mens Shed as the next your next donor.

Time for Paul Murray on Sky, chat tomorrow.

  8. The classic example of loosing your dedicated audience is Nowhere Bound Touring. Went from touring Oz in a truck to buying a yacht, what a contrast. All credit to them for chasing their dreams, but it leaves their followers high and dry if you don't like the ocean. Happy for you to use.

  9. Really enjoy your work, just nice to find a channel that offers great information and help for those who aren't in the know with all the gear. Where else can you watch a guy talk into a wooden spoon. 😂 HFYTU.

  10. In regards to people switching off when channels get bigger vehicles or switch their focus, I don't think it is jealousy that does it. Some genuinely watch channels for their relate-ability, the "I can see myself in that car, going those places" kinda thing. But mostly, it is when these channels start throwing ads in their viewers faces. Be it from sponsorships, gifted items, in video ads, obvious product placements, etc. The worst is vanfluencers. Instead of buying a caravan for themselves, giving an honest review, they get given vans for plugs. You've touched on it in other yarns, but people are hating it. We dont want to be sold stuff. Every van is "Australia's best caravan!", until the next video when you've moved from Brand X to Brand Y, not because it is better, but because you are paid more money. Australians are a simple people – don't bullshit us. Channels like ADU building a new Yank tank every year is excessive. All4Adventure rolling a ZR2 on a closed track, then being gifted a Chevy 2500 and spending a boat load of cash on that to haul toys and a boat through the bush is excessive. The Explore Life now with his dream boat, after running raffles…? People are realizing that these Youtubers view them as products now.

Something defo going on with the new Prado, some suspect sponsorships there. Lil&Jake had a terrible video on it, as soon as they mentioned their current ranger was getting high kms and it was time for a change, then mention it was 130,000kms, i knew it had to be sponsored. 130k kms is barely broken in. Ronny will have it for 6 months, put 35's on it, lift it, and sprout shite that the 2.8 is the best engine ever.

Watch the YT space when the Super Duty Ranger is released and they all suddenly go over to that.

    Can use.

  12. Great job Guys! You've nailed a couple of brilliant topics this week. Talking about channels changing their direction, we've recently stopped watching a few of the big channels for that reason; either because they're not travelling in a way that interests us any more, or many seem to be constantly upgrading to bigger rigs. The other topic is the Prado mystery…a couple of family members of ours have Prados on order and were told they would have to wait up to 18 months. Seems like something weird is going on! Happy for you guys to use comment.

  13. How cynical. . . . Three different u tubers with a good subscriber base, 3 different versions of a new car model release. . . . . Its a coincidence whink whink. . . . .great episode. . sorry again . . if the utuber loses the essences of their rise they will die a slow death (unsub explore once he went american and lost his channel essence)
    Can use

Wharton beach WA leaves double island in its wake. . . White squeaky sand, turquoise clear water, 4wd access, dog friendly and good fishing/surfing

  14. Came to this video for the discussion about Channels changing and leaving followers behind. There have been a few that I feel have done this and while they have continued to grow, they have lost me as a follower.
4wd 24/7 was the first. I loved their content back in the 4wd Action days. I loved watching them visit places, explore and just find amazing spots to visit, I was never a big fan of the harder 4wding. Towards the end of the 4wd Action days that was all it became and then it changed to 4wd 24/7 and that killed it for me. I do enjoy the Off Grid stuff when it is shown but that's all.
Tyler Thompson, Very similar aspect. When I started watching he had the Navara and went camping with his son a lot. Places that anyone is a pretty stock 4wd could make it to. He went full time, Got the Patrol and then things started to go into the harder 4wd tracks and that style of content again, not my interest so he lost me as a subscriber.
Ronny Dahl is the most recent. I used to love his review and discussion videos but also really enjoyed his trip videos. I have not seen a trip video from him in ages, basically since he started on the TV Show and now the content is becoming over edited with the Green Screen all the time and just boring. Much of the same rubbish over & over, as you guys have shown, The new Prado. It's a new car every time I turn around with his content and while his testing is good, I have no interest in buying a new car, especially not a Toyota. I have thought something fishy was going on there for a while, he is either being given the vehicles or a huge discount which I guess is what Sponsorship is about but still not the content I originally subscribed for.

  15. In relation to relatability – I have a foot in both camps. I love seeing the new tech and innovations happening in the industry but on the other agree with the element that it is selling something not achievable to most. And only time I find fishing videos enjoyable is when someone get sprayed in squid ink 🤣 otherwise yawn!
Happy for you to use comment 😁

  16. Absolutely I smell a rat. Unfortunately Lill and Jakes channel has declined dramatically for me, it’s becoming unwatchable. Can’t believe anything they say these days. Their explanation for the Prado is rubbish. Less power, no storage, only 130k on the Ranger all makes no sense. 100% they got a deal which is all they are about these days.
They got $37k off their Titanium, Moan about its weight and size ( but they took the deal). Watch this space for their next caravan change. These YouTubers need to be way more transparent

  17. I should add I know for a fact Lifestyle Pioneers after looking to get rid of their Zone which was a large caravan approached a manufacturer of custom Hybrid Vans ( a 13ft) seeking a freebie, and wanting their supplier sponsors components in it. The manufacturer refused, one stating the van wouldn’t be suitable for their size family,2 that why would they give the a free van when they have paying customers waiting and 3 they didn’t use some of the makes of components that he wanted.
After submitting a business plan of how they could improve the manufacturers profile ( not needed) Lifestyle did a 180 and got a Titanium… again just chasing a deal.

  18. 23:00 I don't mind Matty, he's independently wealthy (through hard work) and a h00t. I remember the Algorithm popping up one of his very early VLOGs (driving/camping) and they were wild – but I subbed anyway.

His best VLOGs are when he gets his mate from the Ord River region, with the Italian name, on a clip (who is a Contractor to Army for survival training). Honestly, I don't mind his evolution to boating and fishing because he's so engaging, and has a dedicated cameraman.

He who shall not be named, now fishing and boating, films his own clips and he's not as engaging

  19. Channels changing approach doesn’t faze me personally. My favourite tv series usually only last 5 years max so no difference. The best thing about YouTube is there is always more people coming up (such as you fellas) to watch. As far as TIAV goes with their kids ages and they’ve done 110 laps of AUS already I think they earned all they’ve got after providing countless hours of entertainment for us.

  20. Love em or hate em, in my opinion so I don’t get sued, Trip In A Van to me was and still are the best. They didn’t find the need to beat on their vehicles for views and everybody has just tried to copy them since.

  21. Another great session fellas.
Aussie Destinations Unknown have lost it with all their huge vans, American utes and now a large boat. They are not real travellers just you tubers chasing fame, sponsorship and fortunes. Good on them but they lost me ages ago.
They don't appeal to the average nomad travelling this great country because i would say 90% of us would have nope hope of affording their rigs.

    You can use this comment.
    Cheers.

  22. Honestly the whole scene right now is so jaded, the big channels are fighting for relevance and at the moment you need to build a new car every 2 years to stay relevant. At the moment it seems to be a massive pissing contest and who can build the most expensive 4wd. Can’t say I’ll stay around for much longer in that space as it’s pretty depressing.
