In this video we discuss one of Lacan’s most significant contributions to psychoanalysis and the study of ideology: Objet a. Objet a, or the Object Cause of Desire, forces us to rethink the formal status of desire not only as it pertains to our personal lives, but also to those systems of control which have developed to manipulate and exploit our relationship to desire. Understanding Objet can help us understand how capitalism and ideology shape our subjectivity.
Correction: In the video, we incorrectly defined signifier and signified.

Nice work
Greetings from Mexico
Keep it up!!!!!
This is beautiful!! Great work 🎉
Gonna crosspost someone's comment from r/zizek; Enjoyable video as this channel usually is, but I'm really sorry to put a spanner in the works. You identify the signifier as "the object as we imagine it and idealise it in our head" and the signified as "the object in itself ". This is very, very wrong and is really important because it has implications for Zizek's ontology. The signifier is the material mark, like the shapes of these little black pixels on the screen, and the signified is the concept, not the "referent" as you imply (which is a pretty defunct concept, and even the object "in-itself" is highly problematic. It has massive implications for how we conceptualise the Real, the scientific Real and the pre-symbolic Real. It doesn't damage the rest of the video, which is great, but its a pretty bad error and is semiotics 101
Great !
