Oakland Mayor INSULTS Las Vegas. Instantly Regrets it. Mayors have Twitter War over Baseball Stadium

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf recently appeared on an Oakland based news show and said Las Vegas was in a “gross desert.” Las Vegas mayor Carolyn Goodman responded, as did many others.
This got messy.

  1. I lived in the Bay Area (Mill Valley Marin County)for awhile. Oakland was not the choice place to visit. Hard working folks, yes! Sorry that the Oakland Mayor lowered herself with all the negativity. I assume she is protecting her turf..

  2. I now reside in Las Vegas, but I’m from the Bay Area. I know Oakland very well, I used to work there. Oakland lies in SF’s shadow and is far from glamorous. The Colosseum is truly a dump. Raw sewage sometimes pours into the Visitor’s locker room. Between the overzealous environmentalists, poor city officials and the probably shrinking tax base and lack of vision it is nearly impossible to get anything constructive done. Mayor Schaaf(pronounced like shaft) is both condescending and clueless like most Kalifornia politicians and I suspect chagrined at losing the Raiders to Vegas. In essence she’s a Nasty Piece of Work.

  3. So many problems with that spot first there are no buildings over there it’s all active port land next major problem no public transit over there and only one way in to get to that location

  4. Crazy we are still squabbling about sports and other nonsensical crap when we are on the doorstep of hyperinflation, the great reset and the total collapse of the petrodollar. This is why we are in this situation, because the majority of people are only interested in superficial crap. Enjoy the squabbling. Good luck out there.

  5. Ahhhhh Oakland is a DUMP ive had family live there for 60 plus years. Vegas would be the smarter move for the organization and players (no income tax, nicer quality of living and much more).

  6. Get well soon, Steven! I look forward to you getting back out there.

In the meantime, Libby Schaaf may have gone about it the wrong way, but I understand her sentiment. If the A's leave, all Oakland will have left will be container boxes and MC Hammer.:)

  7. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, Raiders fan and A's fan. The city council and the mayor do not want professional sports in Oakland. Warriors left,Raiders left,A's have been courted by other cities in the area, and now Vegas. The Coliseum has got to be the most outdated stadium in any sport. I loved going to the games and have great memories in the building. She's got only herself to blame. Btw Oakland is not on the California coast. It's on the eastside of the bay.

  8. Well Libby said what was true but still love Vegas . Vegas is beautiful but why wouldn`t she try to keep her team. The Raiders left because the greed of the owner good riddance to them he was too cheap to try to help build a stadium

  9. Great video Steven. Thanks for pointing out all the outdoor sights and activity just outside the city. So many globs of people come to the Strip, when that's really the worst and most wasteful spot to be. Speaking of waste. I'd recommend staying in the northwest off-strip casinos (Red Rock, Suncoast, JW Marriott, Santa Fe, Aliante). You'll have more authentic gaming, more reasonable prices, and you'll be closer to the outdoor sights and activities. Plus, these casinos are only 5-10 minutes from each other in the northwest. But that's just my opinion. Get well soon.
