NSW government to upgrade SES fleet after record flooding in 2022

The NSW government is upgrading its flood rescue fleet after a record year of flooding in 2022.

The state will deliver almost 200 new vehicles and vessels to the State Emergency Service worth $25 million.

The upgrade to the fleet comes after recommendations from the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry to meet the growing threat of extreme weather events.

Last year, the NSW SES conducted more than 3,800 flood rescues and logged more than one million volunteer hours.

This made it the busiest year on record.
