November Tornado Outbreak | 11-4-2022 Malakoff, TX

***11-5-22 Update: NWS Fort Worth confirmed this to be an EF-2 tornado with winds of 115mph back in the rain.***

On November 4th, 2022, a potent fall storm system set up over portions of northeast TX, southeast OK, southwest AR, and northwestern LA. The Storm Prediction Center issued a level 4 out of 5 moderate risk and a 15% hatched tornado risk for the possibility of long tracked, violent tornadoes.

I chased through the afternoon and about 5pm I arrived on a tornado warned storm south of Malakoff, TX, to the southwest of Athens.

This video shows the footage of this powerful supercell thunderstorm and the rain-wrapped tornado it produced.

  1. I was covering it on radar, not on a Livestream, but just for myself, the first Tornado Emergency was issued on a storm that at the beginning, it looked impossible to form a Tornado, it seems like I was wrong, as in the Storm Prediction Center Tornado Report damage stated: "House completed destroyed" and in that storm, we saw something we haven't seen since the Andover, Kansas EF3, a "Radar Donut", if you don't know what that is, it's a Tornado that is completely surrounded on Reflectivity, on the Second Tornado Emergency, the city it hit was "Devestated" and the city after it was "Not safe" as stated, no Tornado has been officially rated yet, as surveys are still underway, and they are likely slowed down by debris. I will keep editing this comment until the official rating comes out of all Tornadoes in this Intense Tornado Outbreak. Edit: Current EF Rating count goes by it states: One EF1, two EF2's and one EF3, I'll keep you updated further on. Edit and note: The Tornado Emergencies have not been rated yet, and I have also yet to find any photos of damage, I'll make a designated area for the Tornado Emergencies after one is officially rated.

  2. Dang, from your radar shots, it looks like you were right there pretty much IN it! 🙂 Is that chickenwire thing on your roof a large hail protector? Scary to chase rain-wrapped. I did that once after dark lol. When I got close I just completely chickened out, good thing I had the radar there telling me "you're a dumb-a**!" 🙂
