Nostalgic America West Airlines at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, 1999 and 2000!

During the 1990’s, America West Airlines was one of the most popular carrier for flights in the West! One of their operation hubs was in Arizona’s Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. We would take America West from our hometown in Tucson, Arizona to spots such as Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. At the time, the other major airlines that served Arizona included Southwest, Northwest Airlines, United, Delta, American, and Continental.

However the most unique and impressive airlines at the airport to view were America West’s livery. During the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, America West decorated their special Boeing 757 aircraft that represented states such as Arizona and Texas, as well as our local sports teams like the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Arizona Cardinals. It was a pleasure to be able to take the Phoenix Suns Boeing 757 to Seattle and represent the Southwest in style!

America West later merged with US Airways that also eventually joined forces with American Airlines as of today! However America West’s unique style, service, and convenience will be missed! On a sidenote, the Boeing 737-200 jet fleet was also pretty cool to watch!
