  1. I know alot of people say you need a gaming PC or a Playstation/xbox, but I actually think Nintendo products are way better for new gamers.
The Nintendo Switch is perfect. It's not expensive, it's compact, you can take it on the go. And best of all, a lot of Nintendo games are created for casual audiences so they're a lot easier to understand.
2 games to get you started, I would suggest Animal Crossing and Yoshi's Crafted World, both on Nintendo Switch.
They're easy to understand, fun, and hell'a cute!

  2. Would love to see you react to all the faction trailers for all the factions in Total War Warhammer 1-3. I think they are really great and do a decent job telling a short story in a short amount of time 🙂

  3. Basically scientists found out hell is real and instead of say, lock all that away and turn to gods good grace, they decided to study it. But to study it you need to open portals. To hell. And so to not do that in a populated area or even on the same planet as people, they built their station on mars. So we are killing demons IN SPACE!

  4. There's a channel named Ahoy that has a very good documentary on the creation of Doom + its cultural impact.
It's pretty informative while also not getting too "inside baseball" with the terminology.
It is Ahoy's second part of a trilogy on Id's flagship titles, the others being on Wolfenstein and Quake. The Doom one can be watched independently, but all three are of the same quality. Definitely recommend them.

  5. If you are choosing between a console and a laptop, go for the laptop as you are a newbie and having to deal with console controllers on top of everything else may be too much for you. Also consoles have more limited games compared to a PC.

  6. Noticed a lot of with confusion. Doom series, a lot of it takes place in our universe/dimension in the future. What happens is that corporate experimentation opens a rift to Hell allowing Hell’s legions to invade. Many of the actual settings are the moons of Mars, Earth, the moon, a moon of Jupiter, and Mars itself. Pre-Doom (2016), you are playing a human. Original Doom and Doom 3 have similar character origins (if you read the novels since Doom 3 was more a survival horror reinvisioning of the original). Your CO ordered a war crime, you were forced to do it after striking a superior officer, and then your time on either Phobos or Mars is as a punishment.

Also Brutal Doom, even Brutal Doom 64, is newer. It’s basically reskinned versions of the original games using modern tech for higher graphics fidelity and more immersion.

  7. Doom always started on Mars – you're just an average marine sent to serve at a research facility on that planet. Turns out they were researching portal technology and opened a gateway to hell, thus demons etc and industrial style levels, later you end up taking the fight to hell.

Console vs PC – as a beginner you'll find it easier with a console to setup and cost wise. The benefit of a PC is that games are generally cheaper, both XBox and Playstation games can be bought for PC, performance & graphics (atleast at the midhigh end) are better, you can upgrade your pc over time and there's a strong modding community (bit of an advanced topic for a beginner – but basically more content for games made by the community). I have a PS5 console – but I think an XBox Series X would be a better starting point for you IMHO, especially with their live service games library.

  8. Doom 3 was one the first original games I bought I was sooo hyped and I didn't know my family PC wasn't Powerful enough to run it…It took more then a year to me and my brother save money to buy a new graphics card haha.

And I still have the copy the manual is so cute with blood splatter and grime printed on the pages and it's translated to Brazilian Portuguese which was rarer to see at the time.

  9. PC gaming makes use of digital stores such as Steam (ALMOST EVERY GAME), Origin (EA Games), and Uplay (Ubisoft). Youtube itself has a streaming function, though I've never used it. OBS software could be an interesting choice but it seems overly complicated for streaming. Discord can stream, but only to a limited audience, so that could be a Patreon thing if you wanted to test out streaming as a reward.

  10. PC Gaming is a solid suggestion because it just does everything. Also, with a PC, you can get a LOT of free games on the internet. So there's bound to be something you love in there somewhere. Once you have your setup, just play until you find something you love. Then, tell a gamer that you loved this game. They can point you to other games like it. Hell, the internet could probably do that too. LoL, good luck! I hope you do try gaming and that you find something you enjoy. ^_^

  11. Please tell us about how you wrote your books? How did you write the dialogue between the characters? Am I interested in your experience?
This is off topic, but I remembered that you have them.

  12. PC is nice because you can upgrade and update your set up as you want, you have full control. With a PC you can often fix your own games and modify things, you don't need to depend on developers as much. Consoles are good bc you have a known baseline and it's something you don't need to think about, but you have a more limited experience. Either will give you a good gaming experience.

  13. I'm gonna actually say, if you were really thinking about trying to give gaming a real shot, I would HIGHLY advise AGAINST going with a Gaming PC.

Gaming PC's are absolutely great, but there tend to be lots of "little things" that pile up really quickly. Things like "are my drivers updated? wait, this game doesn't want to boot up, why not? Oh, I have to run in Windows compatibility mode, or run as Administrator", little annoyances that totally kill the mood when you're trying to play a game.

A console is 100% your best bet. Xbox or Playstation are both going to be great. I'd personally suggest an Xbox Series X (yeah, the names are kind of weird), simply because most games come out for all three (Xbox, Playstation, and PC), but it also has a great thing called "Game Pass". Basically, for like $15 a month (I think), you can get access to this huge catalogue of games. More games than you could possibly play. The real value, for me, is that because you get all these different games included, it lets you try games you ordinarily might not be interested in, but it doesn't cost anything extra. You just download it, try it, if you don't like it, just delete it and try something else.

Although, you can totally play games on a Macbook, too! Honestly, I think you would actually, REALLY enjoy Hearthstone. It's simple to get into (it's basically a card game), but has all kinds of cool visuals and music, there's a lot of depth and you can play with people online.

Either way, I also think people would love seeing you actually stream yourself playing games! It's honestly not difficult to do, just carve out like 20-30 min to "setup" your stream. You can totally have someone on your discord or someone you know just watch your stream, and let you know if anything is off (ie. volume too loud, if your mic is off, etc).

  14. A great place to start gaming is the valves big three "portal" , "half-life" , and "team fortress 2" in that order sequels don't really matter thou this is just to help learn and grow your abilitys in a fps lens
