Cool to see some real honest old school mechanics still givinβ er. Too many βparts changersβ out there that can only grab parts off the shelf and not get creative.
recall those exhaust manifolds, with the rounded ends and big flare exhaust pipe, long bolts through strong coil springs. . .kept the pipe tight to manifolds & allowed movement …
coming from a diesel mechanic touching any part of the exhaust especially near the aftertreatment of a diesel just plain sucks. the pipes are always exposed to such immense heat that the pipes fatigue over time, that and rust always gets between the gasket and the pipes. those stupid little pipes get incredibly expensive for no reason
You're the man's man. Gonna start fixing hoopties to flip in the next year or so and i can only hope to become as skilled as you. Keep on keeping on. This is golden content.
would you ever consider doing an exhaust system for a 90's honda? how would you go about it? maybe you could add some of that magic you got and make it actually sound good lol
Tom, You have some very snazzy specialist exhaust tools, benders, stretchers and now flangers which seem to go up to mega truck size pipe and you are pretty nifty at using them! Would you say exhaust work is your workshops speciality and you bring in people from 100βs miles?
Little rub around the ring for good luck π always an inuendo in there π Did you spend your youth watching TV from UK, pure Carry On style π Love all your vids mate, keep them coming π
Been a little while Tom! This is Mike. I just ordered 1 of each sticker from your store. Can't wait to get them. You gave me some advice on suspension for my 1961 Olds 98, replacing worn bushings and components, via email a while back. Anyway, hope all is well, and we can't wait for some t-shirts and other apparel. I would definitely buy a hoodie. Cheers Tom!
I had a Chevy come in and it kept breaking the passenger side exhaust manifold. Three shops replaced the manifold and they all kept breaking and then we looked at it and realized he put a front pipe in for a car with an exhaust brake but didn't have an exhaust brake. So small piece of pipe welded into that front pipe fixed it right upπ
After welding exhaust do you heat them and let cooldown really slowly in sand so it will be very strong and not crack under stress or is it enough to let them cool in air after welding
This is why a good exhaust costs a little bit. Ya don't want to discover one of these YouTube exhaust hacks with dryer tubing that catches fire 5 minutes from the local tire shop.
Your clips are pure gold!
Nice weld brother.

I love the funny cut takes on all your vids bro. And I like how u actually fix stuff! Any other shop myself included would have ordered a new part

Nice work. Just as circular as my factory 7.3 to turbo (where the diaper connections go). But mine are 4" now.

Nice work. I've fixed diesel After-treatment for the last 12 years. Never done that. Just replace with the proper fitting replacement.
