Kind of like picking up a stick and poking a bees nest to see what will happen when you are a child. Been there, done that. Curiosity rules.
Strategically it is good to seize the high ground . . . . . .BUT . . . . when you occupy the high ground you are visible to all and invite the hostile attention of enemies previously unconcerned with you. So you have gained a better position but have taken on the burden of defeating all comers.
They should be very happy it didn't call it's big brothers for help.
