  1. You talk about getting extra words from knowledge stones, but honestly, that sounds more like exosuit tech than a starship thing.

A scanner tech for ships that lets you scan for more specific building types would be nice, but I feel like ot would take away from the few advantages that exocrafts have.

  2. I've logged more hours, by far, in Explorers just like the one you just picked up, than any other style of starship. They've been my favourite forever. I agree with the notion of real perks/attributes for the different styles of ships. Thanks for the video Cap. 🙂

  3. I think back in the earliest days of NMS, HG alluded that the different ship classes would have special abilities. Fighters great at maneuverability and combat, Explorers got stealth and scanners a nd haulers got range and the ability to find markets. Now this was over 6 years ago, maybe 7 so I might be remembering it wrong. I have been following NNS for a very long time.

  4. I don't much understand this one very much. Shuttle and haulers make sense but explorers they've already been overhauled about a year ago there not about to do it again.

  5. A little extra though when it comes to the charts. So as to not make the cartographer nearly useless. the ships could generate them over time while playing. slow enough to make buying maps necessary if you want to say farm crashed ships for scrap with the shuttle or like things one the other ships. but also fast enough to be worth getting them. Maybe one every thirty min in game and either a lot slower or not at all when offline.

  6. Explorers are currently kinda pointless
good hyperdrive range, at the cost of all other stats
but really, why do I care about hyperdrive? its not like warp cells are a scarcity
yeah, they need some other Purpose

  7. I think your ideas make perfect sense and you made the biggest point early in the video and that is that all the ships are the same, hell event the cockpits feel very similar. When I played Elite Dangerous those ships felt so very different!! Flying an Anaconda through a space port letterbox was very unnerving too begin with, which made it feel epic and pulled me into the game. In NMS we can fly at any angle at any speed into the blue tractor beam and know we are getting in. 😂
I think missions should only be seen if you’re in a given ship, so explorer missions can only been seen if you’re in an explorer and these missions would take you to far off places. I think your ship should alter your player stats slightly to. As you say, you’re an explorer not a fighter. As such, you dps should be 50% but maybe a big boost to your speed and/or shields when planet side or in your ship. A cockpit that gives better viewing would be good, like glass floors or maybe even 360° video viewing with a completely sealed cockpit for added radiation/toxic environment protection? 🙂

  8. I don't know about the double nanites, the i think the solar ship is already geared more for in solar system exploration. I do like the idea of a cloak, and system scanner, also like the idea of being able to scan for certain buildings. My biggest beef with explorer is the new update has made the benefit of using it for warping pointless, maybe a special tech for it that recharge the warp drive without warp cells or a drastic reduction in fuel consumption, right now what is the point of using an explorer? I can warp just as far with freighter and scan the whole system when you get there. No restrictions on calling your ships and freighter doesn't make a lot of since, it is convenient but not logical. Your fleet is stored on your freighter, but your ships can auto pilot to you from another solar system, even in an indium system when it doesn't have an indium drive, but your freighter can't if it doesn't have the upgrade. There also isn't a cool down timer or cost for doing this unless you call it to a landing site with nav data. It is just my opinion, but I see the role of the explorer to go scout out solar systems, and then calling in the fleet, its purpose to me would be saving you on warp fuel of bouncing the fleet around.

  9. I like and agree with the idea of a stealth ability for explorers… you could then jump from system to system without being dragged into Freighter battles. At the moment my Freighter has bbecome my explorer as it has a massive jump range and I can scan all the planets from it. Hate to say this but perhaps we need to up the warp fuel usage for Freighters (as they are more massive) and half the jump range?
