No Man's Sky Expeditions: The Good, the Bad, and the Golden Vector

What’s a REDUX anyway? Are they worth your time? What are the rewards? In this video, I share my personal experience and offer insight into what makes them special – at least for me.

  1. I completely agree with your point about expeditions showing off different mechanics of the game. NMS has so much you can do, I’ve got friends who have been playing the game for over a year who still uncover gameplay elements that they had no idea about.

  3. I very much like your content. I always use the expedition to collect additional slots for the ships and Multitools inventory. To use them in my actual save. This only works if you do not install them during the expedition.

  4. And you know what's crazy.. I bought the game in June 2023 but for a while i didn't know anything about the Expeditions, i was still figuring everything out! I didn't do my first one until Echos, lol!! I'm on Playstation so i'll probably have to get it from another Interloper BUT I will acquire the Golden Vector by any means!!

  5. I started playing 2 weeks after the game went live and after about 2000 hours I got bored and I wasn't keeping up with the constant changes. I absolutely hated things being trapped behind expedtions and quests like the living ship and the big rewards of expeditions. So fast forward after not playing for a couple years I am doing cursed and mostly hating it. But not because it's bad, I just don't enjoy questing and linear game play. I'd rather just do what I want or I get burnt out quick. But I want this ship for cursed and I've had to start over with pc (after all those years with ps4) and it's been hard (can't find my ps4 controller but it was having issues anyway). I don't know everything like I once did and being older the game is mostly new to me. I like what I see and I think I will go back to playing once I get this accursed "cursed" done.

  6. I hope they rerun the Expedition for the Normandy SR-1 I missed it the first time around and I have regretted it ever since and I'm not able to edit my save file because I'm not on PC I'm on Xbox so I'm looking forward to them possibly rerunning that expedition.

  7. Except they dont give you the rewards from when it was initially ran. I ran through i think exp 4 and didnt get the rewards that were from the og. Which was the only reason i even bothered doing it. I wanted the base stuff….but noooope.

  8. I played nms like 3 months after release and set the game aside for YEARS, after i learned about the constant updates i jumped back into the game and it was just when expedition 3 started and i was bummed out since i wanted the normandy and the golden vector in my main save. I was EXSTATIC when they announced the Redux at the end of the year i love hello games

  9. I agree with your video. Especially, reading some of the comments here, if you consider expeditions being a replacement for in-game sales, the EA or Bethesda way. The guys offer free updates, and want us to do something game related. Fair enough. I also agree with you, that it pushes us to experience the game in other ways, but herein also lies a certain danger. The repetitiveness – you keep communicating the limits of the game. But there are different expeditions with different elements, like leviathan or the blight, which did take a different direction. However, expeditions have a huge potential for the long term future of the game. And my hope, and I actually believe they do, HG sees it the same way. They could be more story driven, into the far far reaches of the universe, with unforeseen consequences. They could also be collaborative, or more puzzle like rather than gathering resources and being blind in a storm in front of a mountain.

  10. For some reason Cursed felt more grindy to me. Maybe it was the lack of slots and upgrades or the tasks that seemed easy but took much longer than expected (2 exotic creatures- only 1 on the one nearby world, and 600 tainted metal come to mind).

I did like the constant threat of the squids though and how it forced you to play smart. I also felt like the world with the hungering tendrils was total nuts in a fun way. I could barely land my ship, no visibility, and when trying to escape squids at one point I fell into what felt like an endless ravine. I was lost and on the run and could not get my ship to land anywhere. Definitely different than a regular game.

  11. I missed the Normandy TWICE and I was well aquainted with NMS at the time. I am making a point to not miss it again this year.
Also, expeditions are amazing because you can double up on quicksiver missions by reverting to your primary save.

  12. There is literally so much to do in this game. It's mind-blowing. I'm 70 hours in ( new player), and I've never known a game so intricate and appealing.
My life, I fear, is over for the next four years or more !
