No downward pressure on energy by Bowen is a 'monumental failure': Bridget McKenzie

Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie says the coal cap pricing by Energy Minister Chris Bowen is a “monumental failure” with no downward pressure plans for “crippling” energy prices.

“They told us they had a plan to deal with this; it is clear that they didn’t,” Ms McKenzie told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“To dress up this meeting as somehow investing $10 billion of Australian taxpayers’ money in renewables is somehow going to put downward pressure on energy prices.

“He’s kidding himself.”

  2. That idiot Bowen did so well as the immigration minister in the Gillard government when over 300 boats came in on his watch. He did such a great job there that he is now put in charge of inflicting massive damage on our economy through his ill advised and idiotic obsession with EV's. Get me an EV that costs $30K, has a 500km charge, can be recharged in 5 minutes and has a charging station every 100 km outside the main cities with at least 20 ports to charge. Oh, and the batteries should not cost $30K to replace as it currently is for EV's on the market.

    The EV technology is not at the point where we could get to 80% of the fleet by 2030. Make for a gradual transition. Provide support for hybrids as a stepping stone to get there. Expand the capacity of the grid to ensure there is capacity to handle everyone plugging in their EV (look at Switzerland who are banning people from using and charging their EV's due to energy shortages). Of course, the year 2030 which is often quoted, ties in quite nicely to Agenda 2030 from the UN which seeks to remove private ownership of property and transportation. it's no longer conspiracy theory – they are quite open about their plans for us.

  3. Sorry guys we have to spend a fortune of tax payers money on transmission towers, wires and batteries to turn Australia into a giant spider web to make Bandt and Thorpe happy as well as destroying our export industries turning us into a third world country.

  4. These smug arrogant assholes don't care what electricity costs the regular person. Because they don't pay for theirs. We taxpayers do. And all these EV cars that they crap on about should not be able to use COAL FIRED POWER to recharge their cars. They should be made to use renewables to charge their cars. Let's see how that works ?;

  5. What a load of partisan crap. Just after 6 months renewables are catching up. Canberra for example is 90% renewable energy. It doesn't help that Taylor created legislation to stifle renewable projects. This is all about the mining lobbyists with newscorp sky and their sponsors like Reinhardt making more billions from their dirty mines. Yes Australians are suffering from their greed.
