Nike's NEW AG boots – what's changed?

Nike Mercurial Vapor 15 AG football boots explained. In today’s Tech Talk, JayMike takes a closer look at the brand new AG outsole for artificial grass on the new Nike Mercurial Vapor 15 and Superfly 9.
After introducing an AG-specific outsole last year on the Vapor 14 and Superfly 8, Nike have gone back to their slightly more FG inspired AG outsole for artificial grass, which looks a lot like the AG-Pro outsole we saw on the Vapor 13 and Superfly 7.
Back then, the outsole was popular as a hybrid for use on both FG and AG pitches, and with the return to the same stud layout and stud shape, Nike are appealing to a wider mass of players with the new Vapor 15 AG football boots – so if you’re considering buying a pair, this video will tell you everything you need to know.

  1. I'm surprised Jay didn't mention that the Vapor 14 AG stud pattern which this replaces was itself almost identical to the AG stud patterns that immediately preceded the AG-Pro ones. So Nike seem to have been flip flopping between these two. I wonder if it's driven by sales data, performance or player safety.

  2. I'm from spain and we have almost exclusively AG grass and this is much worse, I love Nike but I have uncle problems and sadly I won't be able to wear these because they aren't safe enough

  3. I play on natural grass but am coming back from a knee injury in which my boot stuck in the ground resulting in a full rupture to my acl, torn mcl and damaged cartridge. Would AG boots be a good option for my return to play?

  4. Wore mine for the 1st time this evening!
I have a wide foot and these are the 1st mecurial that I could get on.
Super comfortable and mould to your feet!
Great ball control, precision striking area and very lightweight. New fav for me. ❤

  5. The right move. Now Nike needs to sell more of these in US. Majority of the pitches are AG/turf yet they push FGs for every boot variation. I tore my meniscus specifically from wearing FG on AG. I've been wearing AG ever since and have been holding onto my hypervenom 2s with this plate. Only way I've been able to get AGs have been through eBay and UK sites willing to ship to the US though which is not also available. FGs are safe for pro pitches and/or quality grass pitches even if slightly wet. AGs are even safer on harder ground/grass and reduce the impact on your body. Companies really need to promote that this is actually SAFER for athletes and they imo would make more money because consumers would have to use 3 boots (AG, FG, SG) and if they couldn't afford it then AGs are the default based on geographic location. I imagine it's wishful thinking though.

  6. Why, why, why, why don’t Nike or Adidas offer any support in the mid-foot like Puma and their MG Boots with the shorter studs all the way through the foot. This is much, much better and gives a lot more support and far less pressure on the foot and lower leg. Look at all Nike and Adidas AG boots, why is there a huge rigid gap between heel and forefoot?

Had the 2018 Predators in AG and GT 2 Phantoms in AG also at £250 each time. Both gave terrible shin splints and blisters on AG and this disappeared overnight by switching to Puma Future 6.1 MG Boots and the newer Futures are even better and cheaper as well. No brainer.

  7. I used the copa sense+ FG variation and twisted my ankle while sprinting which resulted in a fracture in my ankle…I never really thought there was a huge difference between ag and fg but I guess I’m never wearing FG on ag ever again🤬

  8. previous version is not better than these. this is the best ag pattern. the material in the previous model not expansive enough for the foot to feel. free and comfortable. in my opinion

  9. Have been wearing Vapor 13 and loved it a lot! Nothing felt better then them!
I use them on FG and SG every day and feeling great 👍
Thanks why I bought 14 straight away as I was sure in them, but they were too wide for my feet🤐!!!
This was a disappointment for me as nothing ever felt better to me than Mercurial!
But 15 model is an upgraded 13 with that slim foot shape which was very comfortable from day 1 !
But yeah, I agree with the safety loss on AG Sole… but so far I’ve been playing on at pitch for about a month and feeling great, sooo….🤷‍♂️
    Your choice!

    “Mercurial FG”

Do not use Nike FG 15 on fake or artificial grass!!!!! I don’t understand Nike on this one!!!!

If you look at the studs, it’s already scary on your mind😳🥵 and that’s true!
The studs should be used only on RealGrass!!!
    I don’t understand what we’re Nike thinking about!🤨🧐

    But, in general:
    I recommend these! 👍

  10. Don't buy anything from these guys website. They are in the scamming business. I've bought a 200€ pair of boots from their website last week and they took the payment and are yet to ship the boots. Order (and payment) was done on Wednesday 7/Sept and today (Tuesday 13/Sept) after sending two emails (one yesterday and another today) they email me saying the order is delayed indefinitely and they don't know when they will be able to ship the order (never offered a cancelation), so basically just a "wait and don't complain). This delay of god know how long on top of a terrible 8-10 days delivery policy!!! I want to cancel the freaking order!!!
