  1. The song have some inspiration in Wolves of the Calla. Is a fantasy novel by Stephen King. And this song have my fav verse from NW
    "Light the fire, feast

    Chase the ghost, give in

Take the road less traveled by

    Leave the city of fools

    Turn every poet loose"

  2. The song title in inspired by the Stephen King Book 'Wolves of Calla'. The song itself you pretty much got it.
Marko Hietala is his name (bass and vocals). Jukka Koskinen took over the bass after Marko left.
Troy is playing the Irish Bouzouki, a relative of the Mandola.

  4. Another great reaction. Hope this is not the end of your Nightwish journey. There is SOOO much more great music, amazing songs to discover. Your interpretation is pretty much spot on as usual. Live life to it’s fullest, keep moving, be heroic, not cowardly, the end is always approaching. HOWL! I dont see that you watched Last Ride of the Day, the finale for many show, including Wacken 2013. Masters of Rock version is also great. https://youtu.be/kAFxLXqP8UM. It has a very similar message as this one. Keep exploring Nightwish!

  5. My no 3. A Floor favourite so will be played at Wembley again on Nov 21st.
This starts with energy and ends off the scale!
Note the silent howl, the pyro and Marco vocals.
    Emppu solo.

The title comes from the Stephen King book "The Wolves of Calla" and the theme is "live every day to the full".

  6. Okay, I'll be honest. That was a decent reaction, albeit a bit low-energy. At 11:45 .. "Yeah, so that's Nightwish.. Guys, that was the sixteenth video I recorded tonight". I can imagine some exhaustion at some point. I'd say it showed a little during the grand finale of this masterpiece (8:08 etc.). A little help with that seemingly peculiar line "..and suffer like all the dead children". It will become clear after (re-)reading Stephen King's novel “Wolves of the Calla”.

This one is definitely in my Nightwish top-10, but this performance in particular is in my top-3. All because of the crazy, out of this world crescendo Marko (!) and Floor take it to. Hurling cosmic thunderbolts caught on camera with that iconic fire-breath of Floor at 11:17 that somewhat interrupted your quest for something you dropped on the floor 😉Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

  7. Lots of reactors seem to have done this one recently! It's my touchstone song, picked by my wife to remind me to stop expecting the wolves right now but to live life fully for at least the next week. And that's what it means for me now, whatever others might think!

  8. This song has a special place in my heart!!! Not just because wolf is Estonian national animal but the windmill battle between Tuomas and Floor ….

Plus, Floor's inner Wolf Howl !!! holy mother of Odin!!!
And those Marko (Bass player), Floor and Troy (multi-instrumentalist and plays electric bouzouki in here) harmonies are crazy good.

I have seen this song Live in my home country Estonia, all though it was without Marko (Marko left the band, but now we have a new Bass Player Jukka "Gentle Giant" Koskinen), but Troy really steps up and harmonizes with Floor like never before. Still getting goosebumps, even if I write in here.

And that Emppu solo… He just teases you with that (just look at that grin he is making).
And you are not far off…
The title is taken from a King's novel called “Wolves of the Calla”. But the conception of the book has nothing to do with the text behind the song, it is far more inspired by the film "Dead Poets' Society". The main idea is – one must live his life the best he can, to strive for his aims, because the wolves are always 7 days behind you, and they will catch you if your life is not of full value… and then you will be only dead meat.

    SO…
    Howl and thank you!!!

  9. Suffer all the dead children.. Stephen Kings Dark tower series, Wolves of the Calla.. The 'Wolves' raid and take the twin children from the village and they return them 'roont' destined to die young.

  10. You might be thinking about the Langoliers?
"Dead Boy" is a nick name for Tuomas, referring to the abrupt end of his childhood (or more specific his childhood innocence). To Tuomas childhood innocence is the core of a person's existence. Therefor "dead children" might be referring to the lost childhood of mankind.

  11. I guess now you know the bass guitarist's name… Marko Hietala you could try some of his solo work. Try something from "Pyre of the Black Heart" – perhaps "Stones" or "Song of my Father". There are 2 versions of the album in Finnish and in English. You'll like it i think. A bit of Intel there from the British Nightwish Regiment of Foot

  12. Carpe diem! Live life to its fullest. Grab everything you can out of life and reach for your dreams. I think it is the Ying and yang of life to "I will dream like a god (nothing is impossible), and "Suffer like all the dead children" (suffering is a part of life we all must endure), no matter what we dream.
You noticed how Floor jumped up to that F5 during the last chorus. Loved it!

  13. 7:05 "Wembley let's go"… and it did. "A little different to what I'm used to from them" then BANG 😊Most bands offerings are starters or main meals but with Nightwish each and every serving is a feast all by its self that includes everything to tantalise. "7 Days to the Wolves" is one of my many Nightwish favourites; a smorgasbord of musucal delights. Another great reaction from you Sir. Paul – Nightwish Army UK Division 👍😊🙏

  14. There is so much more great Nightwish music.
Gabriel's list was a just for starters to help 😉
    Please react to more.
Perhaps Last Ride of the Day, Sahara, Gethsemane, etc.
Their is the whole newest album too – there are cool lyric videos for it and now some live stuff as well.
The whole 2nd disc of the newest album is orchestral and a Tuomas approved fan video puts them all together with stunning visuals – it's a must see. Called All The Works Of Nature That Adorn The World.

  15. dead children – lives not allowed to be fulfilled? Just a guess but it would make sense that dead children were lives that were not allowed to fulfill the promise given at birth? They could have said suffer like lives taken too soon but Tuomas is ever the poet 🤣

  16. Time for the newest album, man. 😉 It´s called Human::Nature (2020) and Nightwish made lyrics videos to all songs, except for the second one, which has a music video. So here is the list:
    1) Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwz7-h9LCDU
    2) Noise (music video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LczGSoibRe8 (as a performance coach you´re gonna LOVE this one)
    3) Shoemaker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjp_DfvJimg (Shoemaker was an astrologist, whose remnants were brought to the Moon)
    4) Harvest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy29T7LBM_I
    5) Pan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv5CAFlrNWE
    6) How´s the Heart? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8vuyd9M2LU
    7) Procession https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZBpu67tbS0
    8) Tribal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0bG2ce5blo
    9) Endlessness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLFI7Cs7qmk

And then there is the second CD with just one 30 mins orchestral composition called All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World. But it has movements, as all classic pieces do:
    1) Vista
    2) The Blue
    3) The Green
    4) Moors
    5) Aurorae
    6) Quiet as the Snow
    7) Anthropocene
    8) Ad Astra

There is a beautiful fan made music video, which even Tuomas himself approved. I highly recommend watching it in one go (as I did with my colleagues in a theater on a big screen and proper sound system). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnOdQ5WNZJk

  17. The song title is based on the book Wolves of the Calla − The Dark Tower V.
The phrase "TAKE THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED BY" is a reference to the poem The Road Not Taken by author Robert Frost. His poem The Road Not Taken is a must in any English-language poetry anthology. Further proof of its popularity are the various references in films such as Dead Poets Society and Daunbailó.

  18. "I will dream like the god, and suffer like all the dead children." I always took that as a god looks at his followers as children. So hes dreaming like a god, yet hes suffering like the demise and sorrow of all his followers. I may be wrong, but that is my interpretation.
