  1. Thank you Miles for posting this video today! My godfather passed away one hundred and ninety four days ago due to lymphoma. This video has really brightened my day!

  2. Skipping the group dinner bc ur too poor when you could 100% just keep ur bill separate pay for whatever u can personally afford and still be included, is such a wildly privileged narrow minded take to me.

Like I’m definitely sure there was no malice behind it. But I’m personally so glad that I have friends with money and without a lot of money where we all understand that we can still include everyone even those not as fortunate simply bc we enjoy each others presence.
    Where there’s a will there’s a way.
I’m very positive that it’s just ignorance maybe you’ve not been in the position where you had to think creatively to make sure everyone was included but it’s not hard to do so if u just take the time to think. That is if you care enough to include everyone.
Maybe ur not that close to ur poorer friends idk. 🤷‍♀️

  3. Day one listener, first time commenter, and first time weeping during the Get Real segment. Currently finding myself in a when-it-rains-it-pours situation, not knowing when the clouds are going to clear, and this was such a good reminder to just feel some sunshine and drink some coffee. Now I just need to befriend somebody with a porch. Great episode! 💛

  4. Umm Miles, excuse you, watermelon smoothies are good. Smoothie King (Ohio classic) makes a watermelon smoothie all summer, and has even inspired me to blend watermelon into my smoothie. Very good with Vega protein red smoothie blend. Not sponed.

  6. 46:38 let me get some clarification bc rn this guest sounds like a classist asshole. So I’m a nuisance if I’m broke, order something small, and wanna split my bill exactly? And if I can’t split the bill evenly with the table, then I shouldn’t go out? Please say I’m missing something here, bc rn this sounds like some classist BS.

  7. Strong disagree about the meal splitting "if you dont split evenly dont come to the dinner" assertion. Im in a career where i will always make significantly less money than my friends, and i can afford to go out and eat, but couldnt afford an equal split of the check. Should i never be able to go out for dinner with my friends because it is a slightly more complicated process to pay? Maybe its an American thing but at least for a European in my social circles, the idea that someone who makes less than the rest of the group shouldn't be involved in social activities that they can afford is rather classist.

  8. I don't understand the thing about paying for the whole table? I guess in Canada it's different because having separate bills is just assumed by servers and they keep track… America is weird, man.

  9. just because you can’t afford to split the check doesn’t mean you can’t join the group for dinner. that whole conversation really rubbed me the wrong way, and it sounds like it did for others, too. it’s like saying because you’re poor you can’t take part in these social gatherings. love the pod but hope you both take this input that many people are sharing!

  10. when you guys said that if someone can’t afford to split everyone’s food then they shouldn’t go to the group dinner…. What if someone is going through hardships and they just want to be around friends? And they just order something small so they can pay for it? You would rather them not go then to buy their own food? You guys sounded like real shitty friends there.

  11. I'm a patreon subscriber and I'm dirt poor on disability at 30 recently. First episode I couldn't finish and I usually relisten over and over during chores or anxiety, it's ma lil comfort pod. But that shit about poor friends… You done messed up with this one Miles. Regardless of intent it not only upset but hurt and confused a lot of us cause that seems so opposite to you usually. I'm pissed but also care and you just went out on your own, so don't ignore this mistake, make sure to address it and have it be a blip and a learning experience rather than having it alienate a big chunk of your followers just as you start out on your new journey.

  12. Miles, I feel like it’s such a testament to you how I always end up absolutely loving every single new guest host you have on, even if I’m not previously familiar with them, because you have such incredible chemistry and warmness with literally everyone!

  13. Okay yeah, coming back to this and glad that people are calling out the "splitting the check" comments. It seems like so many things that are commonplace manners in the rest of the US just dont exist in LA and its very jarring. If a friend told me I had to skip dinner because i only had enough to get salad then theyre a bad fucking friend. Love the show but lmao

  14. Just relistened to the ep and the comments are taking the “ split the bill” to seriously especially after they explained how in their friend groups specifically doing meal events where they are sharing of saying the would also eat the cost for a friend
