Her phone was found on a bench, still connected to a conference call, as well as a harness and lead for her dog, Willow, a springer spaniel. When other dog walkers found Nicola’s phone on the bench, they called the school where her children were, who then contacted Nicola’s partner, Paul Ansell, 44. He rushed to the scene from the family home 3 miles away in Inskip before calling the police. Some have wondered if Nicola may have slipped and fallen into the river, some have speculated that she may have had a medical episode, and many are wondering if she could’ve been abducted.

A large scale search is ongoing, involving police specialist resources and including more than 100 participants and 25 trained volunteers from the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team. Superintendent Sally Riley, of Lancashire Police, said: β€œI must stress at this time that this remains a missing person inquiry and at this time there is nothing to suggest any third-party involvement in Nicola’s disappearance.

Nicola is white, 5ft 3ins tall, with light brown shoulder-length hair. She speaks with an Essex accent. She was last seen wearing a long black gilet jacket with a hood, black jeans and olive-green ankle wellies. Her hair was tied into a ponytail.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 565 of January 30, or call 999 if they have an immediate sighting.

  2. At 29:19 regarding the little boy who was found – he had only drifted half a mile from the caravan park called River Wyre caravan park, and not as you suggest all the way from a different caravan park in St. Michaels on Ware.

  3. I think she may have been abducted. Has anyone had a vet examine the dog for bruising. If Nicola was attacked, the dog would have tried to defend her and may have been kicked out of the way.

  4. Interesting you say that Willow was bone dry. My springer spaniel, I'm 100% certain if I went into the water, he would follow me in. He sits and whines on the mat when I shower. He can see me and I'm only inches away. They are hunting dogs and therefore often used for search & rescue, police and army etc. He may be able to track where she went

  5. The person who did this knew that area well. They would have known the CCTV did not work and likely lived very close – that is how they would have picked up on the pattern of her behavior. That is assuming she was abducted or murdered. The fact she was on a teams meeting makes you wonder two things: 1) she wasn’t murdered and just had a psychosis and left (unlikely) or 2) the killer was clueless about teams meetings and therefore is likely older and probably a bit weird. Technologically challenged and socially awkward.

  6. I may be wrong here, but it looks on google earth as if there is a hedge at the top of the field where Nicola walked her dog. This was not near the river area. But it is referred to as the top or upper field; behind the field edge, it is adjoining, what looks like a large pond/lake and a small group of houses sounding this pond or lake. This is where a witness saw Nicola and her dog Willow, who was barking., which is why they noticed Nicola and Willow. There is also a small access lane (to the pond and houses,) which is a dead end and adjoins , the edge of the top field. If this is actually a pond/lake and accessible through a gap in the field hedge; then this pond needs to be searched immediately and throughly, by police divers. Even if to eliminate the possibility. This pond does not relate or join the river.

  7. Again I make the point, I watch local fishing boat videos (personall not proffesional fishing) These people have small boats 25' most have what is called a Fish Finder fitted
This shows them exactly where the fish are what type and what size,, You can see the line with hooks sink down, You can see the fish approaching the bait (some are only six inches long)
Cod, sharks etc are huge and you can see them easily, You can even see Lobsters swimming back down to the sea bed
So I reckon the specialist diver is exactly right

I have my own ideas but I will not state them, but to say everyone will be shocked when it ends

  9. Somebody pointed out that a woman was attacked in broad daylight on a canal path in Barrowford, Lancs. That's not that far. Similar setting. A stocky man, wooly hat, short stubble, dressed in black. Was this man spotted in St Michael's?
