First off, by what right are we claiming Mars, or any other planetary body in the Universe as "Earth's" sole property to do as we please in, on or around it? Quite arrogant and assumptive of Earthlings. UFOs exist. EBEs exist. They have a Universal presence. Earthlings do not. Our governments have not been open and honest with humanity about Earth's visitors, contacts, Universal representatives, envoys or agreements made. Our growth is being watched and monitored and use of our resources measured the same way we monitors other countries interests ourselves. I wonder if the same dust problem exists on Mars as it does on the moon. I have read several articles saying that is far and away the number one problem with colonizing the moon. The stuff is very sharp, VERY clingy (electrostatically) and an all around destructive material that can wreck machines, suits, etc. The suits the astronauts were wearing on the moon were already being heavily compromised by the time they left on the later longer missions, which were still very short.

Humanity can never survive until Faster than Light FTL travel and hyperspace travel is invented/discovered. Without warpdrive technology we have nowhere to go.
And oh yes. I do mean it. Humanity cannot survive without colonizing 10 habitable worlds. I estimate Humanity has 900.000-7.000.000 years. If we had artificial homes on hundreds of domes on uninhabitable worlds and at least 10 habitable planets colonized not counting earth, than Humanity is set to survive 25 million years up to 1 billion. And if Humanity set up thousands of domes on thousands of planets and colonized 100 proper habitable planets. Humanity's extinction can be pushed back from 1 billion years to 30 billion. And 90 billion years if over a million planets were colonized by artificial domes, 1000 habited colonized planets and upwards to 50 fully terraformed planets, the more humanity colonize and expand across space the more we'll survive as a species. Need I bring up this fact, if we colonized even 1 habitable asteroid belt that somehow has atmosphere, but very low gravity, but has flying creatures, and liquid asteroid ponds and flora vegetation and etc or a habitable moon, that still delays our inevitable extinction by a long time. Our destiny is space. Our home is space. And if we can set up FTL travel, our future is the distant places of space.

Why wasting time and resources if we can't even breath properly there? How if all the machines break down? It needs six months to go back to earth. While no oxygen means extinction. It will be better if all the money to go to Mars spent to improve lives here on Earth where oxygen is free and the temperature is suitable to live
