In case you don’t know, Guilliman is no longer the only loyalist Primarch to have returned, as Lion El’Jonson of the Dark Angels has returned after waking up from a 10,000 year long nap!
If you like green you must love Nurgle.
Yeah, The 2nd and 11th legions we have no idea what happened to them. Though the 2nd legion might have had something to do with a powerful alien empire the Imperium struggled to deal with during the Great Crusade.
Soo who will tell her about TTS ?
So if someone hasnt already brought it up, the reason Bricky "skips" over the 2nd and 11th Legion, is because lorewise, they did some things SO HORRIFIC, that the Emperor himself expunged ALL knowledge of them from the archives. Quite literally the only knowledge of them, is that theyre the 2nd and 11th, thats it.
Gameplay wise however, and alot of people still like to complain about this, is so that people that play the tabletop have "vacant" legion slots for them to homebrew their wn legion instead of using one of the canon legions.
Lorgar sits there smiling…while looking over his shoulder scared to death Corax has found him.

Sandman of Terra is probably my favourite lore youtuber right now, if you want in-depth discussions of topics
I, Alpharius, approve of this reaction.

Is it cringe if i bench stuff like this at 2am?😅
my favorite Space Marine Legions
Loyalist: Dark Angels
Traitor: World Eaters
If you want to watch a good series on the lead up and conflict of the Horus Heresy, the Wizards and Warriors channel has a playlist dedicated to it, and are currently going into the Black Crusades of the universe.
There were marines from traitor legions that defected back to the imperium. Barabas dantioch of the iron warriors wasn’t down with the whole traitor thing and he became a hero of the imperium 😊
33:50 Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise?
Uh-oh. Someone gave her, her first taste of “Plastic Crack ” aka Games Workshop minis. 🙀
each space marine chapter/legion "owns" it's recruitment/homeworld. they run the place from the ground up. they usually make it a not so great place to live because it produces better potential recruits
one of the clips at the beginning of the Bricky video was an excerpt from a very well loved Youtube series called If The Emperor had a Text to Speech Device. the first few episodes are a bit strange, but the series became a classic as a way to understand the lore of 40K as well as getting an idea of alot of memes and jokes in the community, absolutely a treat to watch if you are interested.
The Blood Angels are basically if the joke about hitting someone so hard their great, great, great, etc grandkids would feel it was true.
"Gene seed can malfunction?" Yeah, people forget that this isn't sci-fi…. it's pure fantasy. So, the psychic shock of losing their Primarch (their "dad") ruined them forever.
A Thousand Sons best early HH book. Really fucking cool. You really get to understand how insanely OP, but also liable to corruption, they were in 30k.
Argel Tal did nothing wrong… that's not true but he's weirdly wholesome.
The 2nd and 11th Legions were erased from Imperial Record by the Emperor and Malcador for reasons no one is allowed to know.
IRL they were meant to be the "DIY Legion/Chaos Legion" for players but Games Workshop realized that was dumb and decided to scratch that idea.
Now canonically they comitted crimes during the Great Crusade which were too dangerous to let be remembered and have been struck from Imperial records.
Also regarding your questions on Angron, Primarchs were made to be Primarchs but they're not invincible and were "kids" at one point. Angron in particular was enslaved with bomb and shock collars straight out of his pod so he didn't have much choice. There's no human civilization during the Great Crusade who could capture and enslave a fully grown Primarch.
Space Marines are humans, specifically children between ages 6-12 (the ideal age range) who are implanted with Geneseeds which will put them through super puberty alongside a dozen new organs and start taking on the traits of their Primarch (the Geneseed is made from the Primarch's genes) which is why Space Wolves are all fierce warriors, Imperial Fists never crack a smile and Ultramarines can do their taxes in less than a day.
Most Space Marine chapters have a specific planet they recruit from, taking a few hundred or thousand kids when needed, The survival odds generally aren't great so you're expecting to lose a few.
It's rarely voluntary. The Chapter will do large scale genetic testing on those in the age range (compatability is very important) and those who make the cut are taken, most legions not telling the families but most planets do get things like tax exemptions for donating their young.
One of us, One of us, One of us, One of us.
Luetin09 is your next stop for deep lore specially. If you like a good storytelling and keeping facts separated from speculation.
In Warhammer 40K “Rule of Cool” takes precedence over any other choice. Go with whatever makes you happy
There's a lot to go over, but to answer your question about gene-seed, there are 2 gene-seed organs in every Space Marine that converts them from regular dudes to super soldiers based on the Primarch the gene-seed came from. It's extremely rare and difficult to make new gene-seed, so Space Marine medics (Apothecaries), extract the gene-seed from dead Space Marines so it can be transplanted into a new person to become a Space Marine. Over time, these gene-seeds can become corrupted or degrade.
Also, if you're interested in the Blood Angels and Sanguinious, you should listen to the audio of Dante meeting Sanguinious in the afterlife.
You should check out the stories about the Loyalist members of the Traitor legions and their redacted Ultramarine successors.
Barabas Dantioch 😭
You should check out Baldermort for lore and short stories 😀
If you're interested in the primarchs I highly recommend Mr. Bones 40K videos on them. He analyses them as characters and their motivations/ themes/ etc which is something you don't see much outside of the books and its super interesting. His video on Perturabo convinced me to buy all his books and get an iron warriors army
Fel Zharost was a night lord loyalists he was their former Chief Liberian but when he saw how twisted his legion have become he exiled himself from his own and basically become one of the original grey knights chapmaster or founders. Alongside with other loyalists space marines from different legions who renamed themselves by the following names Janus( Revuel Arvida Thousand Sons legion), Epimetheus ( Nemean Dark Angels Legion ), Khyron (Fel Zharost Night Lords Legion), Koios (Tylos Rubio Ultramarines legion), Ogen (is also a nameless space marine from the raven guard), Iapto (Servian from Luna wolves legion), Yotun(Is a nameless space wolf astarte), and Satre (Vandas Ison Blood Angels).
I love the following Loyalist Chapters (in no particular order):
– Imperial Fists (especially the Black Templars)
– Salamanders
– Ultramarines
– Space Wolves
I think traitor legions have splintered creating chapters that remained loyalist even though their primarch fell. Which ones are or aren't has been lost to time for the most part though.
Blood Angels are indeed the best legion. So to answer one of your questions: The Psychic shock of Sanguiniu's death caused the Black Rage in his sons. The visions of his death can overcome any marine in the heat of battle. The Red Thirst was the original gene seed curse, that was there from the beginning, that causes them to crave blood.
