Amazon’s New World MMO has had an update to their release date for their upcoming MMORPG .. They have also announced the dates for their closed beta in 2021 as well as released new gameplay footage. Set in the mid-1600s, players colonize a fictional land modeled after British America in the Atlantic Ocean. Players scavenge resources, craft items, and fight other players. The game will be using a buy to play model, meaning there will be no monthly mandatory subscription fee.
On your adventures and trials in Aeternum, you’ll stumble upon mysterious and timeworn structures. Clearly constructs of the Ancients, the true purpose of these Arenas has been lost to time. Through unknown magic and ritual, the Ancients were able to bend the laws of Aeternum and bind some of its most powerful denizens within these structures. Even the daunting challenge of finding the proper Key to access these Arenas pales when compared to then martial trials that await any group of adventurers who dare to enter.
Once inside the Arena, you’ll encounter one of the most powerful creatures on Aeternum, the Spriggan. Born of the land, it is a primal expression of the power of Azoth. Don’t be fooled into thinking its gnarled limbs are stiff or its movement limited. This champion of the Angry Earth is as swift as it is deadly. Overcoming this foe will reward you greatly but it is no small task.
As you slay particular enemies in New World and dig through the loot they drop, you’ll occasionally come across a Spriggan Key. Along with the Key comes specific coordinates on where you need to go to use it. Upon reaching your destination you will find an ancient, vine encrusted pillar. From there you can turn in your Key and be teleported straight to the Arena. Anyone grouped with you at that time will also be teleported if they are standing around the pillar.
Once inside the Arena, your battle against the terrifying Spriggan will begin. You’ll only have a set amount of time to best this enemy so you’ll need to make sure you go in prepared. It’s always wise before teleporting into the Arena that you repair your weapons and armor and craft plenty of anything you think you might need. The Spriggan won’t go down easy.

Holy fuck
So far from what I have seen i have very little desire to play this game. The fact that they changed their vision for the game a few times already shows they will change with the wind. This lack of commitment to their own vision screams at me, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. If theycan not stick with their own vision why should I trust them to not just up and change the game at any time? To many warning flags of failure. I will not be buying this game, not without some kind of proof they will not just keep changing the game like they change their underwear.
To me the game looks boring and uninspired. I havent even bothered looking into if it even has a cash shop… a definite no go for me. If a game has a cash shop I wont touch it.
One thing I noticed was everyone used a healing staff so they had that blink ability to move around faster. If they just made that a skill available to everyone, people will be more free to use weapons of their choosing and not pigeon holed.
When I first heard Amazon was getting into computer gaming I thought what do they know about gaming? I’m not a big fan of Amazon but as you mentioned there aren’t a whole lot of MMO’s being developed. Time will tell if they can develop something worth playing and I hope they will. Definitely need new blood in the industry. Here again, I have my eye on some other games so I won’t be playing this game.
I hope they are just prepared for the massive influx of farming bots with speed hacks and the like. Bad releases kill new mmos and send people back to the old crap because this stuff has already been fixed.
