Gamers Nexus did a story on it- it seemed to be the EVGA card defaults allowing crazy higher TDP on the GPU (130-140% TDP) in-game than what is being called for (max 107%). They saw the same TDP issue with other games but New World apparently pushes them too hard
Cards were just fried by over-voltage and temps…
Which EVGA master k|ngp|in probably suggested for better overclocking and representation in review benchmarks

I wasn't only EVGA cards. From the way it looks it might be a sub-par power design by nVidia. Check out Buildzoid for a better explanation.
EVGA is the best company I've ever had to deal: warranty RMAs no questions asked (replaced my 780 back in the day), best performance in ETH (consistent 102 MH/s on any 3080 and 63 MH/s on 3060Tis and 3070s.

There is no doubt in my mind that this gpu companies were holding out stock to raise prices. All of sudden all these 1660 supers on amazon are in stock and newegg also but priced at $500. Also it says it will be shipped next month that is also a lie because I got mine like 4 days after I placed my order with amazon. Knowing Asus released about 600 refurbished gpu's on ebay that one day also tells me they were holding them back.

Way I look at it imagine you have an issue with your $1500 gpu and the company say well we can't help we don't have any.
Imagine people buying dead cards off ebay for cheap, and sending them in saying it died while playing the game lo l!
its not shocking they could just hold sales on 3090s to have replacement stock available i would imagine they have a stream of cards moving to and from inventory. I think EVGA is one of the best brands they clearly care about that so its makes sense they want to keep in the good graces of their customers

I'm getting my replacement/RMA this week.
Gamers say it's bad to mine on 3090's…. I beg to differ. My EVGA 3090 gives me 118MH/s. I set mining on (gaming mode) pause while gaming on my 3090. New world bricked it! Two months ago I paid an extra 30 bucks for extended warranty on my 3090 (from EVGA) and seems (fortuitously) I got in front of the RMA line by doing that. This week I should get my replacement.
