The looting system in New World has been a very cryptic system until now! Thanks to Dr. Lupo and many others, how gearscore watermarking has been revealed which I will discuss in the video today.
Each individual armor slot (including accessories) and each weapon type has its own unique gear score water mark associated with it. While traveling through New World, you may recieve a high gear score item relative to what you have ever seen before. In this case, your character’s internal watermark for that particular item slot or type will have that gear score registered. In the future, items that drop of the same type will drop around that gearscore.
This means that as you get progressively better and better items, the gearscore range of dropped items becomes higher and higher. At some point, your character will start seeing 600 GS drops. The only thing a player needs is a group to play with and patience. I hope you enjoyed this video and that it was informative! Have a good day!

Hey Studeee, do faction gear from the faction shop register as a watermark? If you buy a 520 gs piece does this set the watermark at 520 for the slot?

Lets say if my chest piece watermark currently is 510, does that mean I wont be able to upgrade my watermark by killing lvl65+ elites since they are too high of lvl?
Is there anywhere in game you can farm solo for upgrades? Even if its not all the way to 600. I'm basically asking if any non elite mobs 63+ can still drop gear up to 540 or so

So. How it's working? I have level 60 and faction gear with 470 gearscore. So. I have to go to the elite and farm them until I get the gearscore 500+ item out of them and then I will receive one more often with better gearscore?
Does this work when buying/getting traded items as well?
Would be a great way for group to boost up GS drops, if that was the case.
Example:
Player A gets a 550GS BOE Item, while Player B and C only "has access" to 510GS for that item.
Player A trades it to Player B – Player B trades it to Player C and they now all have access to 550GS drops for that item.
If that works; that would be a game changer.
im farming some lvl 60 elite mobs and they are dropping max 500gs. i gotten 4 different ice gloves and they all rolled 500 gs …. the armor on the other hand did roll 505 i dont know what im doing wrong
i have one important question, does the watermark reset daily? or they kinda stamped forever with your character?
What if we roll the low GS do watermark lowers too ?

What if you buy a piece of armor/weapon? Does this increase your drop score??
Does the watermark go up when buying fiction gear? Say I've same at 450 item level, I replace all with faction gear to 520
Is my new watermark around 520?
