New World’s been out for over a month, and despite the initial success, it looks Amazon may NOT have a handle on things.

best part is those "fixed" haven't been even fixed properly
Same issues that most eastern style mmorpgs have had – I remember Archeage having the same type of issues. Great concept, idea totally choked out by bots, scammers, farmers, poor developer management of the economy, etc. etc.
Amazon designed economy isn't sustainable?
I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!
Well, not that shocked.
"Minimal NPC interaction" well then you're fucked. If you don't have a reliable baseline income generation method via NPCs your economy is doomed to fail. Take a look at FFXIV and how it has numerous videos on YouTube showing players how to generate income without having to interact with the market board. You need these elements. The market should be the BEST income but that money being used on the market board has to come from somewhere other than the finite resources given by quests.
fsad
it needs to die fast such a shitty game
The chat bug isn't fixed…. 1 method was band-aided…other methods still work.
Callum Upton and Josh have covered this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b2xzDsFH8M&t=4s
I personally feel like they made a million rookie mistakes making the game, and that's fine and dandy for games like FFXIV and WoW classic, ESO, we were still learning a lot about what makes and MMO fun and trying to express how it can be more fun to devs at the time of these games releases (well…not ESO so much, but I don't really enjoy ESO anyway) New World has the chance of looking at these other legendary MMOs and learning from them, on how to make the systems work, how to make the game fun and engaging, and they ignored it all and tunneled in on their own vision. Using lvl 5 crafting materials to make lvl 40 crafting materials isn't sustainable. Seeing cooler things on the store than I've seen on any lvl 60s. No end game content other than PvP, which you can play a million and two games that already have PvP you don't have to grind so much for. No challenging content, nothing for PvE players, no glamour or transmog system for in game gear you might like. No monster unique-ness. All horribly rookie mistakes. It's going to take years for them to recover from these mistakes, if they ever do. Honestly having something like WoW's mythic system would be amazing in this game. I doubt they'll ever do anything like that, because they aren't looking to other great (or once great) MMOs to learn and grow a new and amazing product from, they're just throwing everything into the same bin and calling it a game. And on top of it all, horrible, obvious bug issues. I've spent my fair share of time in NW, but I just can't get into it anymore. It feels like some half arsed attempt at taking my money, not an MMO world for me to explore. I love the gameplay but it just isn't a good game. Relying on players to handle the world was a bad mistake. A company on my server got mass reported and was forced to change their name even though it wasn't inappropriate simply because another faction got angry they couldn't take the territory. And that's just one of many many ways people have screwed the game up and made it…not fun.
Permabanning people who used exploits… Bit like spanking a child for eating lollies you left sitting at eye level, isn't it?
Maybe you shouldn't leave tempting, tasty exploits laying about in your game. You can't blame a child for stealing a lolly you left unattended.
after "finishing" NW, i got the same feeling as i had when i finished Valheim.
(500 hours played in about 3 weeks, half of it at level 60)
i felt a big void for 2-3 days.
but then i moved on with my life.
nothing i can do will fix the problems with NW. it has been a month and they've really fixed nothing.
i expected the amount of content would be cleared withing 3 weeks and people would move on.
i just wasn't expecting the game to be so buggy and that we'd only get 1 update per week that really fixes nothing on the bigger scale of things.
for me, i'd play more if wood and sandpaper were easier and cheaper to acquire.
i have to kill 200 trees to fill my player inventory. massive waste of time.
sandpaper just vanishes instantly… prevents progression on most crafting trade skills.
but the watermark system is a big waste of time. no real upgrades will be gained from that system. if future content is gated by the watermark system, the future of the game will be DOA.
They have a surprisingly large amount of players right now for what's been going on. I think Blizzard might be in more trouble than Amazon Game Studios lol
i already see the crash of the economy and lot of players abandoning their house because le rank 4 one taxes are huUUUUuuge and the gold you can generate so low
Had to pause at 7:50 and give that comment a round of applause. Brilliant!
The big problems are that they want to have a player driven economy, but then have prohibitively high static costs. If they want a play economy, they need to get rid of the gold sinks. Remove the trading board tax, the repair costs, etc… All gold exchanges need to be between players, not vanishing into the ether.
Economy being balanced is compelte horse shit. The money that goes to taxes isnt technically 'removed' from the game, as it goes to the company that owns it. Although it should count as effectively being removed. Everfall makes like a million a week from taxes, is that fuck getting redistributed to the normal player.
Not to mention players sat on multiple millions just from buying/reselling on the market and doing nothing but that all day.
0.0001% get rich, rest of the players get screwed. Feels too much like irl.
What's clear is that Amazon has a vastly understaffed QA department. A lot of the issues coming out would have been spotted by a moderately competent team of testers.
You were doing so well… Then you went off on the tinfoil hat deflation crisis… Why didn't you research that better, especially since we have an official response saying money made is more than money sinks.
ESO has also just recently released DLC with a pretty hefty patch. So…. Now is a good time to go over there….
"May" lmao it was dead before arrival
Magical sandbox mod Fam. Like them new magnetic sand for kids: stix only to itself and the box. 😉🤭💪🤩💜 But Newr put life tap on S when you do binds…. And now I'll take that bath, towly an me grl strrčr…. 💪🤩
"the only place it can go is down." Did they not teach directions in your school? Take off your ff14 blinders and start judging games again like you do wow.
It is really sad, this game is great and i love it ( 16 days /played) but the weekly "fix 1 bug create 5 more bugs) patch cycle is literally killing the game. They need to shut servers down use the enormous amout of feedback they got over the last weeks and fix the game and make the game better based on that feedback (even if it takes months). This is the only way the game has a future.
And i really want it to succeed cause i have not had that much fun in any mmo for years.
More and more games are having massive inflation issues. SWTOR is having serious inflation issues.
I blame the devs. Never allow RM items from a store to be sold by players in a player-based AH. You just open it up for those with real money being able to keep rolling in in-game riches and control the markets, lets more and more gold sellers in, and force players to have to deal with any sort of in-game currency to RM currency (could be DIL/Astrals to Zen in STO or NW is one bad example).
Also, control the prices. I know one of the City of Heroes Private Servers does this – most things have a rational price, they have a weird pool where items exist and don't exist (so if you sell something or buy something, it goes in the pool and can come out as something else for someone else). While they do have farming toons that basically get themselves money to be able to buy what they need (mods for powers, some buff stuff), no one is forced to play the AH nor always craft. You can, optionally, do it for fun. I think if games set the prices (or a range with say 5-15% deviation based on supply), then you won't have those with plenty of times on their hands and money to burn to control markets. The Devs could easily also throw in a bunch of items into the market to also offset supply issues.
But meh, I'm just a random gamer of many different games, dealing with the bullshit because of the haves and have nots, exploiters, whales, and people with too much or not enough time on their hands.
the game is just doomed, it's a complete disaster
as of 9.55 pm gmt the auction house and wealth transfer is still disabled.
I think they will do some fixing wich will not do really anything major. Then as announced by them next year january they will heavily start to monetize the cash shop for the by then remaning few players (maby like 50K or so) from there some wales will emerge as always and the others will slowly filzzle out. Then the game becomes less and less finanvially viable so they as done before just pull the plug. (since ive read that AGS costs like 500m annualy soooo yeah I dont think even with 500k players the game would make enough money to keep lights on.
Got to love devs banning players, for playing thier game, as they made it; thanks for passing the blame, would they like a baby seal to club while thier at it
Everyone at max level is farming high tier animals, plants, tree's for the rare drops, as they're quite rare you end up with thousands of hide, wood, fibers that you don't actually need. So now high tier items are worth 0.01-0.05g and as there is a crafting pyramid x4, x3, x2 for most refining the low tier items are worth around 10times more than the higher tier variants. People are saying it's silly that this pattern exists as logically high teir items should have more value than low teir items, but because of the fact you have thousands of excess high teir mats after farming for your rare drops for the daily CD items, there is zero demand for these high tier items… Something like a vandor or minimum ah price sets a floor, but these items will still be at whatever the new floor is set to.
New World 😂🤡🤣 it was fun for a week… 😭😭
I still can't believe so many people trusted a company at launch that had literally done nothing but fail at video games so far.
I thought a player driven economy is a good idea but NOT when the crafting is that janky. WHY do you NEED iron ore to slowly trade up to end game gear?? That means for me to make my own damn gear I need to mine thousands of iron ore just to make a few ingots of end game gear OR I can do what amazon wants me to do with any of our interactions and just pay up front. That a is a God fucking awful crafting system and I truly don't think there's any good side to it.
man im so tired of all the videos and articles about new worlds apocalypse. I really try to enjoy this game but its really hard when everyone is yelling BAD BAD BAD in your face .
Honestly if they can fix the bugs the only other problem is endgame.
There were many people claiming that New World will be fantastic and become a potential WoW killer. I was not interested in New World because it is so PVP focus. It seems that some of the players that were so excited to come to New World and thinking it is great have now left this game.
Except for world graphics (forgetting the lazy copy/paste, the same same same just recolored enemies, etc…) and very good sound design (except the staves sounds that sound ridiculously weak) this game is amateur hour in every other aspect be it by incompetence or just inexperience, NW needs a complete redesign a la FFXIV imho.
New World at this point is what I am playing…stopped playing FF14 as I just do not like that it isn't a open world. New World is fun…if it doesn't improve or does time will tell. Butt now GTG.
They broke taxes. Companies are having towns degraded because they cant pay taxes. This also affects player housing, as people can't pay their tax, so losing their homes. It's a big mess.
So, essentially, these days "games" are all about launch hype and then everything can just go fall to pieces? I'm pretty sure I don't like that.
