New World is the biggest new AAA MMORPG release in years, Since launch I’ve clocked in over 500 hours, seen every piece of content the game as to offer and I’ve almost maxed every skill in the game, additionally I’ve tested New World on numerous occasions in the past, the first time being back in 2018 when it was just a generic 50 player per server survival game, completely unrecognizable from what it is today.
This review will likely be more focused on the negatives and providing constrictive criticism for features of the game that can be improved as at this point we’re approaching 2 months post launch, the game’s lost over 75% of its initial player base and big changes need to be made to make New World an MMORPG that’ll last for years to come, If you haven’t played New World but would like to get a good idea of the game from start to finish then I have a full Journey to max level series on my channel that I highly recommend watching.

What do you think about New World in 2021? will this eventually become a top 3 MMORPG over the years or do you think it’s too fundamentally broken from the exploits to be fixed? let me know in the comments below!

—New World Steam Description—

ABOUT THIS GAME
Explore a thrilling, open-world MMO filled with danger and opportunity where you’ll forge a new destiny for yourself as an adventurer shipwrecked on the supernatural island of Aeternum. Endless opportunities to fight, forage, and forge await you among the island’s wilderness and ruins. Channel supernatural forces or wield deadly weapons in a classless, real-time combat system, and fight alone, with a small team, or in massed armies for PvE and PvP battles—the choices are all yours.

KEY FEATURES:

CARVE YOUR DESTINY
For thousands of years, Aeternum has been the source of fantastical legends—and now you’ve found it. Shipwrecked and without supplies or allies, you’ll need to make your way in a dangerous world where supernatural power has changed all the rules. In such a land, your destiny is whatever you make of it.

A LAND SHAPED BY MAGIC
Aeternum’s mysteries run as deep and dark as its history. Delve into the world and uncover the secret truth of the island and its millennia of strange inhabitants. As you explore Aeternum, you’ll discover beauty, danger, and opportunity at every turn. You’ll need to use all your skills to take advantage of the island’s bounty—and survive its horrors.

SWORDS, GUNS & SORCERY
Arm yourself with brutal melee weapons, ranged artillery, or supernatural powers and jump into New World’s classless, real-time action combat system. As you progress you’ll be able to determine what you want your gameplay experience to be like—will you act as a protective shield on the front lines of battle? Will you sling spells to support your allies from a safe distance? Only you can decide.

STRONGER TOGETHER
At the core of the New World’s social features are the three factions, organizations of like-minded players and non-player characters with their own motives and schemes for the island’s future. It is as a member of one of these factions that you’ll wage war and claim, defend, and develop your territory.

  1. i just log in every day to find out what else is broken or what exploit ppl found so far its something new every single day also loot system is poorly designed where to increase ur watermark u have to fight high lvl bosses where when theres 30+ ppl u can sometimes not see a single even green drop for hours allegedly i heard from someone in global its based on how much % dmg your group did to the boss but sometimes where we were the only group we had no drops either just give loot to every1 that tags and make it BOP so the market wont get spammed or give ppl credit that do any resonable dmg idk 10k-20k its just fiew attacks depends on enemy defense

  2. I feel that the biggest flaw of the game is how the PVP player base controls the advancement of PVE players through the management of the settlements. They have way too much power over the game, it makes PVE players feel like they are their slaves that are at their mercy.

I refunded my game before launch because I realized this during their pre-launch. It's a terrible framework for an MMORPG that's supposed to cater to all players.

I did love how this game felt more like a single player MMO with its gathering and crafting. I also loved the graphics and sounds. Game immersion was definitely on point.

  3. This makes me feel so much better. I want to like New World, and there are many things I really enjoy about it. But I'm a healer in most MMOs. This game punishes healers around every corner.

  4. Impossible to get a group for old content, no reaosn to revisit dungeons.
This is one reason why i wanted mounts, when they drop from bosses people farm them forever, making groups for new players/alts.

  5. Great review and loved your series to max level. Also loving the devs communication becauase they seem to generally agree that the cons are there and have told us their priority in how they want to tackle them. Refreshing coming from WoW

  6. I like that you listed how likely is it for players of different MMOs to like New World at the end of the video. Gives me a perspective how similar or different it is to other games in the genre. Hopefully you'll continue with this for future videos.

Great review, love it. New World is the best game I have never played but will most likely pick it up after they fix the end game.

  7. Great review. Personally I'm gonna wait a year or two, before even considering trying it out. too many bugs, glitches etc. basically AGS team looks like people trying to put out fires with gasoline from my perspective.
We'll see how it goes in the long run.

  8. I loved New World when I first started and was making a killing on the auction house. It really killed my vibe watching the price of everything dive down and almost all high-end resources be sold for Pennie’s.

  9. Spot on review with the content you had. Since the Void patch, the 60+ Elites have been boosted in health to the point of absurdity. Now, the Myrk runs that took 30-45 minutes take twice as long for the same rewards. Crafting to 200 takes longer. GS elitism has now pigeon holed those who didn't stay at the top of the game. I am taking a break from NW until they resolve these issues, and I also have well over 500 hours in Launch, plus many hours since Alpha. I got my moneys worth, but that's not the point. I want NW to be long term great, but the Devs are seemingly against that concept.

  10. Thanks for the elaborate review. You nailed some good points there.
I am looking forward to see how amazon tackles those problems and I can see the game becoming really good if they manage to adress those points in a pointful manner.

  11. Almost 360 hours playtime and today, after about a week of feeling 'bleh', ive decided to put my time in New World on hold. What you've said in this vid is pretty much spot on. Especially with the Water Mark farming, which is whats made me stop for the time being. For me, i dont find the game to have any actual content; i'm not a completionist, so gathering/crafting isnt something for me to work towards beyond anything required for townboards. I dont work the economy so again, gathering/crafting is pointless for me. Chest farming runs in Myrkgard, Eternal Pools etc are no fun either because youre body blocked endlessly and more often than not (in my case anyway) is that groups tend to skip as much trash as poss in favour of making the run quicker and 'easier', which (in my case) ends up with the groups splitting up and or getting whomped because someone pulled all the mobs trying to solo-loot a chest due to greed. I'd give dungeons a more serious look if they werent stuck behind the requirement of needing an Orb to do and if, as you said, one wasnt required to go through endless WM farming to best make use of the drops/chests in said dungeons.

Maybe i'll revisit here and there since theres no Sub required, but i'm over it at the moment and need to find a game that'll hold my attention.

  12. A very good balanced review. Glad you didn't shit all over the game, but provided fair points for good & bad. Shame you were working on this review just before the content update this week as some points have now been addressed – mind you new issues have been added as a result!
