The economy in this game is so wild and varied that it's a real problem trying to make gold. Undercutting has reached a point that almost every resource is of such little value that there's no point in trying to sell things on the Trading Post. A 1k stack of a tier IV or V resource like Wyrdwood or Orichalcum goes for pennies. And good luck getting any decent profit from selling stuff toward buy out orders because you'll be lucky to find any that are offering a worthwhile price and that's because wealth is so hard to come by that people CAN'T offer a lot for buy out orders.
