The thing is also, if they were changing any code related to trading/crafting, they should have re-ran the testing related to old exploit methods to make sure they do not happen again. So even if the root code cause is different, its a sign their testing practices are lacking

Thirdly, trading and crafting happens pretty fast, I do not mind if they add a “sanity check” at the end of all these transactions that makes it take a couple seconds more to verify nothing got duplicated.
They need to pull the game down like FFIX did to rebuild a realm reborn. The game was not ready for Beta. It is still in Alpha. It is so obvious that the the powers at Amazon told the studio to release it or we are pulling the funding on the game. The game is a train wreak. The game is a gathering and crafting sim that looks really good and now that all trading is shut off you cannot even do that part of the game easily. If another MMORPG like Ashes of Creation was release say tomorrow it is far more of an mmorpg with superior combat than New World. A 12 year old could have developed a better game. The games core features are broken and there is no band aid that they can put on it to fix it at this point.
For the long term of the game bringing it down for a time to fix things would probably be best. Sorta like Realm Reborn. FF proved it was possible to come back from this but man this really needs to go ahead and happen if they care about the game's future.

Anyway, I like watching the drama because its basically Star Citizen. They're trying to break the mold, and players have zero tolerance for the development process – be it under the deadlines imposed by a producer (New World) or don't release until it is right/tech is there/when we get to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe (Star Citizen).
New World has a good foundation. Amazon invested for the long term. It won't be a loss unless they cut and run now, which seems ridiculous after everything they've been through.

They need to shut these servers down, no premium currency I don’t need cosmetics to help me play catch ups. That doesn’t help me play the game. Wouldn't be surprised if majority of people stopped playing during this trade turn off as it snowballs to almost not being able to play the game and after getting off addiction/ end of honeymoon period wouldn't come back any time soon unless big changes on top of Big bug fixes takes place, just a bit hopeful they won't pull the plug on the game as the immersiveness of it can achieve truly amazing stuff i fell. Personally I will try to track the changes and might come back if fundamental changes were commenced, after certain point the grindiness of the game systems become disgusting, on top of limitations with storage and disincentivizing people from buying houses to upgrade storage with insane taxes on top of making territory standing cap at unreasonable 300 with barely any gain surely is amazing loop

Gold duping isn't even close to the biggest problem in the game. The idea that this is a big issue currently is based on the faulty assumption that there is an inflation crisis in New World, when in fact New World suffers from a deflation crisis as the value of most items is practically zero as there is not enough currency in the system for players to comfortable purchase many items while still being able to pay property taxes, crafting/trading taxes as well as constantly reparing their gear. No this might actually help the economy.
For the gold fix – They need to change the cap on gold by alot. And give every player 500K gold. And then tweak rewards to reflect the new inflated numbers.

New world is def having some growing pains, on top of this. And with some major expansions coming out soon, those pains might get real bad. Thats my worry right.

The biggest problem are people that have a need to cheat in video games
Good news is, people are still out collecting while the trading is down, so when it does come back up everything will be cheap as hell. The wrecking of the economy will go on for weeks or months after this.
Trading is NOT disabled right now. It still works within specific regions of the map… in addition, you can still dupe right now without the need to trade gold by using your warehouse or the crafting system.
its not just the dupeing, the whole end game is about territory war and right now territory war is only won by who exploits best. its just sad.
I want a greed emote for it xD Like we rub our index, middle and thumb together, like Pay up for your mistakes xD or a tittle not a greed goblin xD.
But more on a serious note, not sure how long this dupe glitch has been going on. I did buy mats from the market about 3-4 days back but didn't now about any dupe glitches. So I hope they don't punish me for ignorantly buying from the market to level up my trade skills. When I did hear about the glitch I ignored the market for buying and only sold armor I just got from farming and expeditions and just went out and got mats myself, so here's hoping I don't get banned due to ignorance.

Ha, I have been bugged "immobilized" and unable to die or respond for 2+weeks. Zero response from AGS.
I think they should roll back the servers, shut them down while they weed out the economy bugs, and then when they bring the servers back online just ban the exploiters for 2 weeks and call it a day. I don't need in game currency, I just want the game to work and succeed because I really enjoy playing it!
Just an observation but for some of the boards I've seen it appears that folks are having more fun breaking or trying to break this game than those playing the game… if the methods to replicate the bug are exactly the same (and they are based off the info in the beta post) how can you claim that is a new bug? This is comedy. Also there is a dupe for items still clearly in the game using inventory and netlimiter. This is not fixed and it involves moving to/from your inventory. There is no way for them to track this…. New world is just plain broke!
Ban, ban, and ban some more–a hardline vs exploiters must be put into place. Otherwise, they'll just keep doing it. As compensation, they should give an in game item, a housing item called "the exploiter's head". It's a skull on a spike, you put it in your house, and it gives some sort of buff (perhaps a blanket reduction of taxes/fees in a certain city).

All they need to do is go aheadand create an armor set that takes mats that currently do not exist within the game, make it moderatly better than the void, and add a couple rare drop mats to a few places.. making the duped mats all but worthless or close too it, equating to duping fiber..
I wonder if they can't do a roll back because they are not confident that more bugs exist or will appear forcing a need for another roll back which would force a lot to quit?

The number one issue with the game is not gold duping, but how poorly this game is coded (BUGS, GLICHES, EXPLOTES, ETC….). I put in over 150 hours into this game and don't want money, emotes, outfits or whatever. I want them to fix the game, so we don't see issues like this going forward.
If AGS said we are taking the game offline for X about of mouths to fix the game and everyone would start at zero. I would be okay with that if…….
1) they coded their game better.
2) better tracking for players accounts to stop issues like this.
3) added systems to the game (add a lobby for dungeons, actually classes like tanks, DPS healers etc… )
4) add mounts.
5) Stop giving weapons in the game for EVERYTHING! I'm a healer and I barely get a lifestaff. I get all kings of weapons not for my class and flood the market with every drop I get, because none of the weapons are for my class.
I say turn the game into a beta and fix the game and offer refunds to players. Amazon has your money and fixing the game on our dime. That's not right.
