New World Builds: Life Staff and Ice Gauntlet Healer Build | Absolver Guide

New World Builds: Life Staff and Ice Gauntlet Healer Build | Absolver Guide
New World Build Guide for the Life Staff (Healer). This Life Staff Healer Build Guide focuses healing Expeditions, and supporting your group with some AoE damage via the Ice Gauntlet. This is a PvE Build that is mainly used for Expeditions, but can also be used for more challenging PvE areas, like those with Elites, and can be adapted for PvP as well. If you’ve been looking for a good Life Staff healing Build, then this Guide is for you.

The way this Build works is that when your party pulls a group of enemies you will drop Ice Storm to AoE and slow enemies, and then you will swap to your Life Staff to begin healing. You’ll either use Beacon or Sacred Ground depending on what enemies you are facing, and then you’ll use Light’s Embrace to spot heal as necessary.

You can swap back to Ice Storm whenever it’s off cooldown to help with DPS, and you will use Entombed to restore your Mana if you are looking like you will run out. Ice Pylon is there to created a Frosted Area, which can be used to gain the benefit of passives like Refreshing Frost.

  1. Is there a way to improve how the single target selection works? Maybe I'm just dumb. But, it almost feels random when I'm using my scroll wheel to try and select the right person to heal. I know if I look at them and choose my targeted heal it can select them. But, when I need to run around in a hectic group situation sometimes I'm scrolling and the selector is stuck on only like 2 or 3 people and won't move the selection in order of what's listed the party display where it gets highligted.

  2. I’m a primary healer with war hammer off-hand. Not a huge fan of the ice gauntlet, though I recognize its usefulness, but by comparison the hammer brings so much damage and crowd control to the table, which is especially helpful in solo play. Add in the “bonus healing from sacred ground” and “healing from damage done with crows crusher abilities” and you’re surprisingly tough in solo play. The main reason why i prefer not to use a secondary ranged weapon, however, is because once you get the perk that reduces cooldowns on light attacks for the light staff, you can have >100% uptime on sacred ground (meaning you can actually have more than 1 down at a time for a brief time). Furthermore, assisting your team in damage isn’t super important in expeditions, though I think it may be nice in invasions or wars. Overall, I think it comes down to personal preference, and I’ve had a mallet in my hands since lvl 6, so that probably has more to do with it than anything. I just love the schmack.

  3. Hai @Fextralife, love your videos. I see u have a high latency of 200+, which is similar to mine, do the delayed projectiles affect your gameplay badly? Im too scared to try any builds involving ranged weapons, but u seem to be ok with it.

  4. Heya Fextralife, i assume you've not made it to 60 yet? the scaling with focus through amber gem is complete shit on ice gauntlet. You will end up dealing negative damage making solo gameplay painful and to be honest not even really viable compared to great axe or hatchet

  5. Why do none of the videos about healing ever cover orb of protection as an option. The benefits of fortify and refresh that it applies far outweigh the healing over time on beacon and the minimal healing it does. Damage prevented with fortify from orb of protection combo with the fortified sacred ground perk can give 25% or more fortify preventing a ton of the damage before a heal is needed.

  6. Sacred Ground
Orb of Protection (all the way down)
    Beacon

OoP is SO DAMN GOOD I don't know why people ignore it, it's cheap, on a short CD, is AoE heal + HoT + Fortify and instantly applies to yourself if it hits another player

I don't DISAGREE that this build is usable, but definitely not my style.
