New World – 25 Things You Should Know Before Launch Day

New World is just days away from releasing and I came across more things I feel should be shared with everyone. This list is something I was creating since my last 20 tips & tricks video that I created and just got around before release to putting it in video form. I hope that people can at least take a few pieces of information and use it when the game comes out. Hope to see everyone on the game after it launches!

  1. I have two more tips to add:

#26 – Boost your gearscore watermark to get better item drops. Your watermark is a 'score" that is based on the gearscores of the gear and weapons you have had equipped at SOME POINT even if you are no longer using that particular item. This watermark will determine the gearscore range of items that drop from mobs, that you get from chests/crates/stockpiles, etc. The higher your gearscore watermark, the better your drops will likely be. You can boost this watermark by temporarily equipping items that have higher gearscores than the gear you actually use. So, when you are out killing mobs, doing quests, looting chests, etc. and you get a junky "grey" common item or some random item that may not have the right stats, still make sure to check it's gearscore before you salvage it. If the gearscore is higher than what you have equipped, equip the junk gear for a moment to boost up your gearscore, then put your normal gear back on and go ahead and salvage that junk item. Your watermark will remain at that higher score and your future loot will be better than before.

#27 – The satchel you get from the early game quest is pretty junky… but one person's garbage is another person's treasure. When you get the Satchel in the early game from the quest in the first settlement, you can choose to go ahead and use it. However, it really isn't very good as it only gives +50 encumbrance. Instead, head over to the trading market and check the prices for the crafted bags and also see if anyone is selling the satchel you got from the quest. You might be able to buy a crafted bag, and then sell off the one you got from the quest to offset the cost of buying the crafted bag. During Open beta, I bought a crafted bag with a higher encumbrance bonus AND a perk for 500 gold, and then sold my quest satchel for 350 gold making the much better crafted bag really only cost me about 150g when all was said and done. As long as you list your quest satchel to be the cheapest on the market, it will most likely get bought by someone.

  2. Question on Tip # 18… or really, 24 hour cooldowns in general… Is it 24 hours from when you hit it last? Or is it the next daily reset? I know others have said elite chests have a similar cd… is that based on the daily reset or when you opened it last?

  3. Thanks for a lot of good tips. I just wanted to point out that 1 set of Iron Tools is 152 Iron Ore, 40 Green Wood and 24 Rawhide. The remainder of the mats is for the fishing pole, which is an item a lot of people are better off skipping, at least early on.

  4. One thing about jewel crafting and gem cutting. Salvaging crafted earrings/neck/rings with gems in them guarantees the gem is returned to you “uncut”. You’ll want your old gems you craft with so you can fuse them to make the higher tier and start crafting with those.

  5. IIRC the cost for respecing weapons starts at weapon skill 10 for each weapon individually. Like if your bow is only Lv5 and your fire staff is 11, the bow is still free to respec.
Just clarifying for people 🙂 Thanks for the vid! Solid info.

  6. Instead of having the materials so high on the market place that you know they won't sell, put them a bit above market price. If they sell, great, buy back the materials when you need them from the people selling for lower. If they don't, you spent less money on listing fees.

  7. It's hard to tell for me if people actually enjoyed this game. Can anyone lmk if they did? When streamers or other creators talk about it, it doesnt seem authentic for some reason (maybe i'm just paranoid)

  8. I said this in another video that is 1 week old so I'm not going to get a response there so…

question what is the one to one ratio on time in game to real life time

the reason is because people never done a time comparison, like when you take the faction chest supply when have to wait an 1hr in game while in real life is it also an 1hr?, or is it 1hr in game is 5 minutes for us?

(example – Minecraft 1 day = 20 minutes in real life)

also when we loot chest and take resources scattered around the map, is it shared, like people have to wait till the chest respawns or is it separate loot items

  9. I know comparing MMORPGs to World of Warcraft is so tired and overused, but I have a couple friends who've played the Beta, and they said the game has MANY similarities that are near borderline copyright infringement. That a lot of the game is literally that close to WOW. What do y'all think? I've spent 10 years trying to find a game to take the place of World of Warcraft, and I think the reason I have never been able to is because World of Warcraft really just was the best and can't be beat. What I've always wanted was a World of Warcraft 2. A completely new, updated blizzard style MMORPG, and this really looks like it could be the one I've been looking for.

  10. using the trading post as an "inventory" seems useful. bag space and encumbrance is a pain in the butt.
is there a limit to the number of items you can post to the trading post?

  14. You can't make a unique character build… you will see thousands with the same exact skills that you have + you only have 3~6 skills which makes combat repetitive… another mmo disappointment for me 🙁 .. the combat does feel great and the graphics are legit, so much potential gone to waste
