Underpass is 10 years late?? I cant drive to alot of places before10:30 am and after 2 pm its bad!!

I think the Baht buses are sufficient. The monorail that was recently installed in Bangkok has had several quality issues, so you can expect the result will be the same in Pattaya.

I always wonder why they think about an underpass and not an overpass (bridge)? A bridge is much quicker and easier to build!! There is also no flooding, as is common with underpasses in Thailand. Cheaper, because no expensive pumps have to be installed.

I can think of two fiddles the beach concessions operate.
One they take away the cheaper deck chairs, and only rent the more expensive sun loungers, and they all do it on certain areas.
Another, is notice the signs for the food are all identical, leading me to believe they all use a nearby source who just deliver to the beach. Not wrong, but not cooked on the beach as suggested.
Finally, the prices for drinks are all set between each beach vendor and so expensive you might as well sit at a bar over the road drinking cheaper drinks and not paying for your seat under a fan.
Yes, ban them all they are operating an expensive monopoly.

Kata, kamala, naiharn $200 baht. They make you buy two chairs even if you're a single person even if 95% of the chairs are empty and they could make เธฟ100 selling you one chair.
I rarely buy them. I was at Kamala and went ahead and did it and then resold my extra chair to another single person.
I was just in Pattaya two weeks ago. Those beach chairs we paid 100 thb. Traffic was very bad so a monrail maybe a good idea.

I am not sure if a monorail would do something for Pattaya. I was about to write that they should have longer working hours as the ones in Bangkok but I don't think it would be used that much anyway in the night. From the map, i get that they have to squeeze that thing in. I would have made the red line line continue on second or third road up to Na Klua or at least follow the yellow line on the north. I am sure that line will have a lot of complains from taxi/bath bus driver ๐ My idea is that you arrive at the north bus station and you can take the monorail to the area where your hotel is without changing monorail. Nice to see they included the pier but the blue line make little sense to me. I would prefer maybe a U shape from the north bus station across Dark Side Pattaya, south pattaya to the pier.
Good news – the Phuket light rail will be run by the current taxi mob, they promised efficiency to their one time tourist passengers ๐. And in Pattaya monorail news just watch the Simpsons (I guess the Thai government didnโt) all monorails ever built are scams – look at Sydney ๐๐๐ couldnโt get to fuck all of important places.

Years ago buses from airport to Phuket town were introduced, only that the 'power men' decided that they all 'left well after the flights had arrived' and the Taxis had taken their share! After a long haul from Europe –who wants to wait for a bus?
Traffic problems and rapid growth make monorails a no brainer. Main streets and side soi's are jammed during peak hours in off season. Big beach events turn the roads around central Pattaya/Jomtien into a parking lot and more hotels and condos keep going up. Big issue going forward with all the growth.
