If it's a death world forest then it's difficult terrain because the tree's and plants are trying to eat you
“6 inches is… a lot” Ah, it’s kind of average, but y’know.
Get rid of plunging attack and the 3+ weirdo exception, it’s useless clutter.
Also I want crystal clear LoS rules.
Drop pods have engine's that's why you can choose where they land on the board
You guys need to read these articles better… This is the second one where you missed key points that you seem confused about. They clearly mention obscuring is still a thing in the section "Ruins". It's literally the first sentence following the bold word "Ruins". The other one you missed was in the transport section where they clearly state rhinos, impulsors and razorbacks still care about if you're primaris or not.
The first line of Ruins description reads like obscuring without referencing the keyword "Obscuring" itself.
Ruins – These wrecked and damaged structures completely block visibility of all models*** through their footprint, regardless of how much you can see through their fancy gothic windows. Otherwise, models outside can shoot in, and models inside can shoot out.
Boarding actions uses 'fully visible':
> If you can draw a straight line to every part of a model’s base from any part of an observing model’s base, as described above*, then that model is said to be fully visible to the observing model.
If you read it with this in mind, then the visibility rules for new terrain given make a lot of sense.
To my understanding if vibranium absorbs all kinetic energy then it should never make a sound, produce literally any recoil OR be able to bounce off anything. Even that aside someone wearing a vibranium suit in a bouncing drop pod still feels g forces, they still have a slushy brain.
Talk to Valrak. He knows a thing or two about tin foil hats. 🤘
To me it sounds perfectly viable and clear. You have 10 men squad of firstborn against my 10 men squad of legionares. You declare shooting attack with bolters. You check los. If at least one model in a unit is partially behind a corner, while all other models are fully visible, that one model gets the benefit of cover. If I allocate my saves to that model, then untill that model dies, it gains the benefit of cover. When it is dead, that is it. The cover is resolved per model, not per unit.
There are still obscuring, the ruins are obscuring.
Terrain should have always just been just a -1 to hit for each source of terrain that partially blocks line of sight. If line of sight cannot be drawn to an enemy model, then that model cannot be attacked. Models in the open are unaffected by terrain.
Done, all terrain and cover… covered by two lines of details 😐
Yet again; I'm just glad 10th in shaping up to be an edition where you don't need to carry around a dozen or so rulebooks, supplements and charts like in 9th. These terrain rules are an improvement overral but I'm a little dissapointed dense cover seems to be gone as it added flavour to jungle themed terrain. It definitely seems like we'll get more terrain rules as they seem to be steadily dripfeeding us info as of late
I'm currently in the process of making some terrain, do you guys think any new ruin terrain should me made with platform levels 6" high to anticipate the rule changes?
Adrian's ideas on drop pods make me glad he's not a rules designer 😀
I want to see your fat tush run up two levels of flooring in a few;seconds!!
Prenerf tyranids were definitely the strongest…the codex needed 3 rounds of nerfs
its just a case of of all models within a group are seen or not – if you don't have clear vision of the whole squad, they get a cover benefit – that's how i understand it anyways. In current games, ther can be a situation where players argue weather a model can be seen or not – this stops tht
drop pod has to be 9inches away, but you get 3 dice to charge………..
