We were all expecting gen 2. But it only got 100 pokes so gen 4 kinda make sense to fill the 200~ish cards
If they were to do a trio pack though Dialga, Palkia and Giratina also have the lake trio split up like the birds where would make sense

Dialga has a 2 metal energy attack that adds 2 metal to a benched pokemon. And it doesn’t specifically say it has to be a metal benched pokemon.
