Man’s somehow never heard of Dwarf Fortress:((😭😭😭😭
I would love to watch Ed go over this but the voice over for the guy on the right was done so poorly I can't understand half of what he's saying, the other guy talks a little fast but perfectly understandable still so IDK why they couldn't do better for the other guy. To be clear I know that is not at all under Ed's control so hopefully the comment makes up for the metrics of me having to stop watching 1/5th of the way into the vid.
If you want the most simulated video game world, Dwarf Fortress is your game. So many things are simulated to the point that the most bizarre things that even the dev never expected could happen. Like cats licking beer off the floor and puking everywhere then dying, when some users would report this happening even the dev was perplexed.
Such a user-unfriendly game to play mostly because of how much is simulated and can be done, but it is the most impressive world simulated world ever. Lore, history, character personalities are all procedurally generated. Software engineers around the world still praise Dwarf Fortress despite the game being a few decades old, and its still in active development.
Though there is a nice pixel art remake published by Kitfox, but its not as feature complete as the original.

2:58 You gotta play Rimworld, it is quite fun! And you can tame monsters, especially with all the mods there are.
With RimWorld and dwarf fortress as inspirations, that's not really what I expected, but it makes sense.

I have played Dwarf Fortress… when it was a terminal based game and i understand nothing yet i spent like days on it doing random stuff… this is a good signal for mw
Having played Craftopia I suspect the story will be very vague with one main quest giver giving quests which are more like guideposts on features of the game. Okay even for English that is crap as an example the first mission in Craftopia is to kill some sheep to prove you can feed yourself. To do this you learn how to use the minimap and way points.
This game is really looking unique and different with each passing day it's more than just "pokemon gun version" and I'm all here for it!
I wonder if they will have "shiny" versions or something along those lines
These developers make the weirdest most open ended open world games ever. I hope Palworld doesnt feel like some sort of weird Tech Demo like Craftopia did, or like Peoject Mugen's Trailer felt like. I want it to have at least SOME sprt of justification for doing anything. Some sort of drive to do things. Or it will just be like Minecraft.
Every thing I've seen of Palworld before this has been so insane to the point that I didn't believe it would be a real game or it was just a scam cash grab solely carried by its marketing. This Q&A was really down to earth and gave me a little faith in the development team. The game looks like it wants to do to much but maybe that's just the marketing fluff. I really hope the game does turn out to be good.
