Patient Scout on Reno might be a great "backup plan". PIck it up, and if you don't land a good triple you simply golden it and sell it on 9-10 gold for a bunch of 6 drops.

Hey Ben. Cool thing happened to me last game.
The lobby got offered Partner in Crime. I was playing as the Jailer and there was also an Ini in the lobby. The rest were all ex-buddy heroes.
I completed my quest and was given a golden Karl the Lost. I guess it gives you a random golden buddy or something.
Managed to still come second even though I didn’t have any divine shield minions when I completed the quest.
