My first impressions on the new New World patch notes and lifestaff changes regarding lifestaff’s light/heavy attack changes from passive nerfs. No more AOE circle! 🙁 Show more for links!

  1. Great, another nerf to the healers, why not… I bet this was another of those PVP aimed balance change that directly affects PVE as well.

As if PVE healing wasn't complicated enough with the targeting UI

  2. I am in complete shock at this. This isn't an "improvement." It's not really even a nerf. It completely eviscerates a playstyle. I'm not usually the "well, this game sucks now" type, but man, that was the one thing that made pve healing viable. What do we do now?

  3. Im gonna have to log in and try it for myself first, but I've already been thinking about respecing to dps. this might be the push i was looking for. Im out here trying to give my party the best support i can. i guess pvp players got what they wanted. good luck getting your gear score drops before you die because you no longer have support 🙂

  4. Dunno why this needed changing when there are already so many bugs in the game. Spash healing on light and heavy attacks would feel so much better, I get theres an issue with Wars and pvp atm, but I dunno why they think this change will fix it, they just made healing feel more clunky …

  5. also dont like the changes. I really hope they change it back, hearing negative feedback about it… Would show for me that they actually listen to what the community says.
And it really should have been worded more specifically.
But to be fair, the description of blissful touch is now more accurate than it was before, isnt it?

  6. I agree completely with your thoughts! This makes Blissful and Mending touch seem almost useless, like those 2 points would be more useful elsewhere now. I feel like respeccing to apply those points.

  7. This is purely a performance focused change. They most likely (I hope) did it fast to try and put a stop to the mass exodus from the war and pvp lag and hopefully will put some thought into actual improvements later down the line. (similar to the ice storm only dmging moving targets). I think taking some queues from ESO would be an interesting move. Smart healing is actually nice in some aspects of this type of gameplay, for example 'healing anyone in your visual range' who is low health but with options to only heal group members would be interesting. Also cone base heals instead of pbaoe are nice too.

  8. I seriously hate the devs, I want one of them to explain how they improved something by making it was worse, like the devs are complete trash they need to do a better job communicating and a bettter job developing

  9. I understand they may have not wanted to have everyone maxxed in CON/STR, and just running around self-healing strongly but, all they needed to do was tie healing more to what your Focus value is, and/or say at 150+ focus you get the aoe splash; not just do away with it entirely. As a healer main, this is disappointing.

  10. Healing is: dropping both aoe heals and switch to your secondary to become a 2nd class dps until someone is about to die.

Just removing the features that causes laggy wars is silly imo

Well eventually healers will be playing with the void gauntlets as 2nd weapon which is a secondary healing weapon.

So youre still a healer while also having some active gameplay and if necessary using the life staff for the big heals.

  11. they just corrected some bugs, its not a "nerf". the Blissful Touch Say that light Attacks PASSING THROUGHT an ally heal for 20%. not an aoe explosion that heal allys. the same goes for orb of protection the 3 passive was always active .this fix helps to put life staff in line with other weapons. (life staff was broke asfk, like 5 out of 10 player had LS) i'm main heal and liked the bug fix

  12. as a healer we put all point's into Focus! and amazon gave the healing class no secondary weapen the runs focus which screws us for solo dmg. doable but not great dmg longer to kill mobs and now this nerf makes me wanna drop healing all together …

  13. I know a lot of people will be mad about this but healers needed it. Healers should never be the tanks. With the old build healers in heavy gear could tank multiple dps without needing to really needing to be good at the class. Every other range weapon in this game is not tab target and I love how healers now need to aim a lot as well to be able to succeed. These changes will make healers be in a higher skill cap to be the "best" healers instead of just spam the ground and heal themselves and others.

  14. This change is stupid. Yes life staff is broken in PvP, but it’s also vital in expeditions and is the only healing weapon, and expedition in NW still depend on the trinity system, so any changes to it has to be done with extra caution. This is the exact opposite of caution. Also, why are they already moving to nerf weapons when so many weapons are still bugged? Ice gauntlet is still heavily bugged, yet they barely fixed anything there.

  15. And i was just thinking about giving healing another try after not really liking the target your group members via mousewheel thing.
Guess i stay choppy choppy for now.

  16. Im really fresh in the game and I'm only level 28, and from this it seems impossible to do the hard pve content without a second healer or even a third one. The life staff already does poor damage compared to the rest of the weapons and now we have to focus aimed shots on teammates instead hitting enemies.

  17. Shocked that they mentioned it's an improvement to the passives, yet find out it's a general nerf. yes you can't no brain spam AOE heal while skills are on Cool down. But for pure pve healer role, this is not helping. It may address those tanky healer build that can 1v5, but surely there is better way to address those issues.

  18. Correct me if I am wrong but the passive says that lights attacks heal as it passes through teammates. The description never mentioned the little splash. As for the clunky feel of healing I had to switch over to control and customize all the buttons. IMO once heals are on cooldown it is time to use whatever secondary weapon you have to aid in Dps.
