Move has certainly got you going again. Love the windcutter. Branch fiddle. Ummm, I think it will need to be in a cutting to give a barrier us you lean to main fiddle yard. How about making it end to end, to give more operational realism as a heritage line.
The move is also a good trial for seeing how setting up at show would be. Now itโs 3ยฐc no singing and as you have moved do is mean no lula?(dog)
Iโm lost is this not the same layout as the garage as that was almost complete
Mate, hobbies and life take up a lot of anyoneโs time. Big ups to you, under tough conditions.
Hi mate I'm interested in getting into the hobby I've some old hornby stuff from late 70 early 80s from my childhood but I want the dcc stuff but I find the locos very expensive what are the best locos to get started in the hobby that don't cost 300 quid
Superb as always ๐๐ป
Great up date love the new location.
Great stuff Richardโฆ.a lot of hardwork โฆ.your doing the right thing,a lot of us leave modelling railways till late in life ,and you wonder if you,ll get it finishedโฆ.!
Marvellous space you have to work on it all the sameโฆ.i donโt think you need any encouragement being there at midnight ๐๐
If you're cold that's a big space to heat, so my advice is first layer up – get some thermals, etc. If you're still cold, especially if you're sitting around, I recommend investing in a sleeping bag suit, they'll keep you really toasty warm.
They're about ยฃ100 which might sound a lot, but in the 3 years I've had mine I reckon it's saved me about ยฃ3k in heating bills๐ฎ. They're also super sexy – providing you have a thing for the Michelin Man๐
Given that this is an exhibition layout, have you considered how you will pack, transport and then unpack the new fiddle-yard when taking it out and about?
What is the overall length and the final width of the new layout.
Looking great. I would've just stored the boxes for the stock in boxes on the floor, as I have with Ashbrooke Central at my parents' house, and as I have in my garage. And I'd use that lower shelf for stock not on the fiddle yard (but I do have an awful lot of stock, currently all stored in my bedroom).
Can't wait to see trains running round and round here. I'd also love to offer help in building, but I'm over 100 miles away, so…
Looks a lot better in a proper industrial unit. On the fiddle yard boards why not have the heritage line come off the scenic board underneath as it is onto a helix at each end to then run along underneath the upper level fiddle yard and then back up again at the other end. I.e fit two helixes either end before the main fiddle yard boards. Have the main line above bypassing the lower helix entry and exits.
Love the new room! Random production thought here โ invest in a rug/mat for the floor โ I know it's going to get dirty โ but the sound echo in the new space distracts me. Once you get more things in the room, that will help. Just a technical/viewer input suggestion, so take it with a grain of salt! ๐
Hi Richard
What is the sound profile for the 2MT? Its sounds like the real thing . Thanks
Hi Richard, I enjoy the updates. are you still planning a Road system?
Just awesome mate fantastic
Hi Richard, are you going to make the fiddle yard scenic?
That 31 is Mega! Where's it from? Acurrascale?
OMG …so much to do M8 , cant wait to see it finished ….wonderful vid bud
Screw in adjustable feet would make the baseboard levelling easier
Another fantastic update. Keep warm and looking forward to seeing complete running loops again!
Succes met de bouw verder. Gaat zeker heel mooi worden ๐
Hello Richard, layout is looking good. I would love to see it at an exhibition one day.
Greta update! The 2mt sounds fantastic, is it an HM7000 or better?
Out of interest, how will these fiddle yard board work if you ever take it to an exhibition? They look quite permanent especially being split level.
Speaking of Waterman, have a word with megapoints, servo activated.
His name is Dave.
Less stress on the blades, and will talk with digital control.
More inside info for you..
Yes I know it was Zero 1.
GCR, is by bolthole, if it ain't Porthmadog…
Super-impose it over the mains….
Digital dimming.
Comparators, baud rate.๐๐๐๐
Stop fiddlin' about that yard! ๐
Well done Richard, progress is definitely being made. ๐ Colin.
It's coming on a lot quicker than mine and mine is a lot smaller๐
Really good, weโre all watching with anticipation
Didn't realise you were local to GCR. Did you pop down at the weekend for the gala? It was very busy but managed to get myself a nice N gauge bargain off a stand at Quorn ๐
