I’m hoping this changes, but for now it does seem that we’ll at least be able to get the game shipped in from overseas.

Yay! My expertise can come through again on BOTH sides of this collab! "Ultra" Kaiju is just a reference to the fact that this stems from the Ultra series, encompassing the "Ultra Q" series and the UltraMan superhero series – a long-running toku franchise that's been a huge part of Japanese pop culture since 1966! In fact, the fusion mechanic from Monster Rancher would be right at home in the Ultra series, as several series experimented with it, like UltraMan Geed. On the whole, in addition to new monsters each year, oftentimes have throwbacks to older popular Ultras, like Gomora is a famous brute from UltraMan '66, known for being the first kaiju to ever overpower UltraMan in that series, or Zetton, who are weird alien cockroach-dragon things that were genetically engineered to be the perfect anti-UltraMan weapon. I am extremely hype for this one!
Edit: All Ultra licenses are done through Mill Creek Entertainment now, so there is some non-zero chance that we could get this in the west, especially by their own admission, Koei-Tecmo pay a lot of attention to their social media accounts. Just gotta ask them.

There are actually quite a few games in english that only come out in Asia since some of the countries there have it as an official language, so I'm not really surprised about something like this happening.
As for why they don't release the games to the rest of the world, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it has something to do with licensing.
Fun fact all of those Kaiju are belong to the Ultraman franchise
there are two main reasons for 'japan and SEA only' releases. one is that, as someone mentioned, some SEA countries have english as an official language. the other is that they require licensing of certain franchises. in this case, it's the ultra franchise, from what i understand. in this case, a japan + sea license costs way less than one for a world wide release would, plus the franchise will probably not sell well outside the area.
we can compare this to super robot wars, for example. it's a mecha collection game franchise, and most games license SD versions of the mecha because they are cheaper, as well as releasing only in japan/SEA.
0:39 Ed It not that odd asian contries like India, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Singapore all recognize English as an official language, also you cane add in that list Hong Kong were English is recognized as an official language and add countries that recognize English as an recognised language like Malaysia, Sri Lanka to that list.

as much as i love monster rancher & ultraman but the classic kaijus in ultraman is not really what i call appealing, except for gomora i really don't see myself want to raise the other kaiju, they should've atleast put some modern ultraman kaijus 😩
