  1. My family were also quite big on animal rehabilitation and relocation. We always caught snakes in the yard and relocated them somewhere safer in the woods, or even down to bugs in the house we take them out instead of killing them. On one of the last vacations I took with my parents we got to the campground and the campground pier was closed off because there was an injured bird and no one else was brave enough to go help it because it was obviously scared and in a lot of pain so my dad and I went out there with some of our gear to catch it and wrap it up so it wouldn't hurt itself more. Luckily because we were like "we can catch it no problem" they were able to find volunteer to drive it out to a bird sanctuary to get patched up. They kept in touch with us and sent us an email when they got the bird healthy enough to release him and he was going to be ok.

The rest of the vacation everyone else that watched us do it were so intent on praising us for doing it, someone even bought us a case of beer to drink for it lol. I understand not wanting to make the situation worse, but it sometimes feels like no one else would ever do something to save a hurt animal, even if it was actively affecting their own life. Like the entire point of this campground was the pier and bay access and everyone was just ready to avoid it and let that bird die up there. We got it water and literally saved its life.
