New concept art for Tianas Bayou Adventure + Possible closing date for Splash Mountain

Disney released some new concept art for Tianas Bayou Adventure, the Splash Mountain retheme, giving us a peek at what the animatronics might look like. They also gave a closing date for Splash Mountain in Walt Disney World, which may give us a guess as to when it might also close at Disneyland.

  1. The β€œstory” is an example of how fallen Imagineering has become! Whoopi! We are helping Tiana plan for a party! Sad….
It is one thing to change the ride into a new make-over – fine. But please give us a really good story. The characters are right there in front of you!
Would not it have been great to have Dr. Facilier lurking about? Or as you go you the final lift he is singing β€œFriends on the Other Side”?
And please, no excuse that this was a budget issue – A great story doesn’t cost anymore than a lame one! This is the total lack of β€œimagination” and creativity within Imagineering! Not unlike the decision not have Star Wars music or the main beloved characters in Galaxy’s Edge.
Tony Baxter gave us the original Song of the Song story and songs with Splash (adjusted to fit a flume ride, etc.), the OG Imagineers gave us the Snow White story form the film, same with Mr.Toad, Pinocchio and so on. They never felt like they had to β€œimprove” on what was already there and what the public already knew and loved. It seems this current group of creatives (I use that term lightly) seems to have this chip on the shoulders to prove their worth with these β€œsequel” stories that no one wants! Maybe the answer is to totally break down Imagineering to is foundation and build it back up again, because this current group just doesn’t cut it!

  2. I can't wait to see Tiana's!!! It looks super cute and I know me and my kids are going to love it. I also can't wait for Mickey's Runaway Railway. That ride looks so cool. Great update DavidπŸ’–

  3. If it was closing in Anaheim just a few days later they would’ve announced that today. I think they’re gonna wait until the Indiana Jones refurbishment is finished. It’s going down on 1/9 and no date announced when it will reopen. Considering how much work it needs my best guess would be March.

  4. One less reason to visit Disneyland…

And Disney keeps shoving me to turn to Universal Studios…

I hate that they are replacing Splash Mountain, and doubt that SJW mountain will be as good… Splash Mountain is such a complete and emotional adventure and thrill ride!!!

  5. Tony Baxter created pure Disney Magic with Splash Mountain and for Disney to gamble it away with a daily 80 minute plus wait especially how the parks are right now is insane. All you have to do is go and walk up and down the line to see everybody loves this ride EVERYBODY so not sure why they are trying to hide or delete DISNEY history. Disney history is American history.

  6. David, to keep your coffee warm without "cooking" it, try a candle warmer. You can get them at Michaels or probably on Amazon. They stay hot enough to keep your coffee warm but not too hot. I use one all the time for my coffee. 😊

  7. I was there last week and rode SM twice. Very sad to see the state of disrepair it's in. Lots of it was dark inside, lots of music and animatronics either cut off or not working anymore. I think they just don't care anymore about keeping it up even for the short time it has left.
My fave rode in the whole park, so very sad to c it go ☹️

  8. What a disgrace to replace splash mountain with this garbage. No wonder why people are always complaining about Disney look at what these stupid board members are doing they have destroyed a favorite ride for no reason at all. Disney has hit an all time new low. This is why the CEO was fired because they ruined Disney for good. But they keep on raising their prices now do t they and yet here they are replacing a great attraction with a stupid attraction. I won’t go Disney World again.

  9. I am ok with the change to make it current I guess. I am also nostalgic and will miss splash mountain. One aspect I am not a fan of is making the storyline something that is AFTER the story we know. We are not going to be able to associate the same way with the rides we know and love the same way.
