"What your hungry? I just fed you!." So like a real life cat.
Also notice that you needed two cans of food per cat at once to tame the cats, instead of a can per day which seems taming is reset each day.
Seems the cafe cat wanted can food instead of bag food, but that's just a guess.

The only game reference I can think of with a famous Hedgehog would be the Sonic games? It does have cute graphics but I would say given you struggled a little to know how to feed the cats I expect this makes this not quite as intuitive or needing the game to offer a much better introduction to the starting mechanics of this game. Its a demo so hopefully the feedback will taken positively to help improve the initial experience in the later full release version.
