  1. Note to the devs :
Stability issues, unresponsive commands and hit-box offset, ok, early access, and the game is nice, shows real potential, but :
Why on Mars is the CO2 scrubber so user unfriendly ? 6 presets with no clue whatsoever on how it works ! Very high-tech, but no automation for such a basic device, and no user's manual ? While in the same time, power is sooo automated we have 1 micro-inverter by output with an insane and unrealistic power dispatch ? No wonder why the missions fail and return rockets explode with such crappy engineers 😱🀣
Maybe your reasonning is Mars -> Musk –> Tesla –> micro-inverters, but it is ridiculous : each device means a risk of failure, a thing space engineers try to avoid by any means. Your design is flawed : what you call transformer is a DC-DC converter, what you call a battery is an UPS.
For your information, DC-DC converters have only 1 output providing 100% of avail power, whatever number of plugs avail for said output, and UPSs are limited to their nominal power, not to the battery charge (if you have a 1h battery loaded to 50%, you get the nominal power for 30 mins, NOT half the power for 1h πŸ˜…).
These 2 points (power and unfriendly undocumented "features", as Microsoft used to call their bugs) added to the
obvious issues with the game itself will prevent many players from buying it… Don't do the Microsoft thing, please πŸ™ For reference : How much Microsoft engineers to change a light bulb ? None, Microsoft would declare Obscurity ™ as the new standart πŸ˜’πŸ˜…
Good luck with the fixes πŸ––

  2. To upgrade your tools, put the tool to be upgraded into the upgrade bench in the building. You may need to add a few bits and bobs to get it to work. Once it is done, back away from the bench, and on the left hand side of the bench to tool can be found. You may wish to add the scanner upgrade tool from the tech tree. Once it is upgraded at the bench you can scan rocks to find out what they are. One last thing you may wish to do is add the battery upgrades to battery, as they make your batteries bigger, and the power station upgrade, it gives you more outlets on your power station. One last thing, at night you can use the power outlet on the drop pod to power your suit. Have a Great one!!! I met to mention that large base to the south east of you is the base you start from and can be dangerous, but a fare amount of loot.

  3. Left CTRL + LMB to quick pick up stuff AND pick up cables. Also, if you go to settings, interface, you can turn up distance at which interactable items are highlighted and change highlight mode to always visible. Greatly helps you find stuff in abandoned outposts. Also if you see stuff under the ground – this is normal ( Sometimes during location loading items can fall through the ground ). Get away from that place like at least 300m , hit F5 to quicksave, F6 to quickload and loot will respawn where it should be. Some tablets in some places can be unreachable, don't waste time on them and just move on.
P.S. Sorry for the wall of text and excessive backseating but this game has a lot of…. Issues and unconventional ideas that make it kinda hard to figure out.

  4. i have 24 medium solar panels plugged in to one fully up[graded transformer which then plugs into 5 sets of batteries fully upgraded. 1 full set of battery blocks holds 1912.58kw x 5 and the last battery set plugs into my base, I never run outta juice. I have a similar setup with the water, 9 wells into 3 pumps and them 3 pumps into one pump and then into my base….You can daisy chain the hell outta them, this game is awesome.

  5. I have seen other players putting coloured markers on the map to help give them directions. May be via an upgrade – not sure. Try clicking on the next base you want to go to on your map and see if it gives you an option to mark it. I have also seen pumps being attached to wells which then seem to give both water and oxygen. If so, you could attach an oxygen hose to the workshop maybe? Been watching different people at different stages so it’s all a bit unclear what is available at your stage.

  7. Why does everybody who plays this game care about if their helmet is on, you get free oxygen from your pod and an extra bottle, like wtf, no need to roleplay, you don't even need the extra bottle unless you are going on a trip that might last several days, it's the same with water, except what I think needs to be fixed about not being able to sleep because water

  8. – you can see your sleep bar in your inventory menu, check the left side under your avatar, blue and white circle (tiredness and stamina)
    – as mentioned by others you can quickly pick up items from the ground by holding Ctrl, it works for me (the latest patch probably fixed the issue you have with cables)
    – tools are upgraded at workbench, use the workbench, place the tool into the slot and click upgrade, you can repair circuits as well but it's not working properly (some items are misaligned), also circuit is destroyed after 3 failures
    – CO2 scrubber – use levers to decrease temperature (increases power usage), turn knobs inside and on the side (max 3 times then loops back) to increase output (increases temperature), keep temperature below 100C or it will blow up (I managed to get the O2 production up to 13/l)
    – when in map mode right click to put a marker, hover over marker and right click to change color and icon, white markers are not displayed on HUD, the colored are but only 1 of each color can be set(old set to white if existing color chosen again), you can also add the marker to the list to quickly find it (allows to center on it and enable tracking without hovering over the mark)
    – the little tiny spots on the map are water sources, allowing you to build a well to top off your water (and O2 with well upgrade) during longer missions
    – if you upgrade the spectrometer it will show you content of rocks (not sure if level one can since never tried it), point at rock to scan to show primary and sub resources, it's also used to find the water source
    – with jackhammer you can only mine the primary resource in reduced quantity, using the truck and shredder you can extract the sub resources as well and will get full quantity too

  9. It's a cool game, but I'm not convinced the prologue/tutorial adds much to the game play. There's been a trend for bait and switch in games at the moment.

  10. CTRL+Leftclick is direct to inventory
Z = show loot. In Settings: Up the range of lootfinding to max
    Map:
The little tiny "spots" are indications of groundwater.

Question Mark: White and Grey ones. Don't know exactly which is which, but one should point to a tablet, the other to a POI.
If you see nothing it's probably a cave but the entrance can be outside the circle.
    Enjoy
