I'm a vet tech and that's happening sometimes. Especially with this small pets. Bunnies are really hard to tell apart, when they are younger.
We ones had a guinea pig to neutralize and as I was getting "him" ready for the surgery I was like that's not a male. There are no testicles.
But when their are older it's easy for guinea pigs, cause they have really big testicles tbh. 😅
We also have it sometimes with cats. The owners come in with their new little baby cat, saying it's a female/male and we look at cats and have to say. Hmm that not what you think it is. Some of the breeders just don't know or look closely I guess.
