  1. I’m originally from Uk and Remember when BA was the Premier UK airline under Lord King and Colin Marshall . Now I live in USA and fly over 100K miles on American Airlines. We all know AA / BA code share but I would rather change planes and remain on AA than fly direct on BA.
A few months ago I had no choice but to fly LHR/ Boston on BA. Before take off there were multiple announcements not to eat nuts as there was some one with severe nut allergy on board. This was repeated when in the air. My initial thoughts were how responsible the crew were. Shortly before landing we were offered a small heated pie / pastie. I read to see the ingredients which stated “ May Include Nuts “ enough said!

  2. It will take a lot of work from BA executives to get back to true national flag carrier status. The ground staff and air crews have always been among the best, but they've seen years of cost cutting and degradation of the customers experience. BA nowadays is so far removed from the company it was. Far, far from the lavish days of Concorde and first class experience to rival the best. They've seriously lost the edge to other carriers like Virgin Atlantic where the customers experience is still something viewed as of the utmost importance. You can't operate a national carrier as a jumbo budget airline and expect to retain loyalty from customers who will get a better experience elsewhere for the same price, or less.

  3. The current aircraft used on the circa 5+ hour European routes mainly A321NEO, are not fit for purpose for this length of flight. Extremely uncomfortable seats, No IFE, Below average onboard service offering. (Eg: a 200ml bottle of water and a 20g packet of pretzels is not acceptable at these high fares, and for such long European flights) . The business class offering is also embarrassing for the fare charges, there is no additional leg room , the exact same seat as economy.

  4. I don't really understand their approach to Gatwick, treating it as if it can only sustain some kind of low-cost operation when it was a major airport pre-pandemic and is located in the wealthiest part of the country – e.g why do they not have First on Gatwick flights, as if people in the area wouldn't use it? And if you're in The City, getting to Gatwick is just as quick as getting to Heathrow. I also don't understand BA's obsession with London. There are many other major cities in the country and Jet2, Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizz, TUI are sweeping up at them with flag carriers also getting the profit on their hub connections (like Emirates, KLM, Aer Lingus, Lufthansa et al). Run a Euroflyer hub out of an underserved airport like Leeds, just like Eurowings do out of Cologne-Bonn. They'll just continue losing out to competitors if they don't rethink their model.

  5. Budget Airways. BA 14hr flight from Tokyo was one of the worst experiences. The inflight entertainment kept failing and the crew essentially disappeared to sleep after 3 hrs with no snacks available for such a long flight in one of the most cramped seats ever. Never ever again.

  6. You make large profits if you attract a following and differentiate yourself . Instead BA has been going the other way . Also you can tell a good airline by the way it reacts when something goes wrong and in this respect BA is sadly lacking . Said as a former fan of the airline , but it’s gone down hill fast . EasyJet better now !

  7. I’d like ba to be my first choice but it’s just so far behind other airlines…..I only fly to ibiza with ba now business class and that’s not great. Just booked my trip to Singapore with Singapore airlines and there on another level when it comes to product…….ba are just not good enough anymore.

  8. BA is not ‘…the flagship airline of Britain’; it has less than zero interest in anything outside its London catchment area, and has washed its hands completely of everyone else in the UK.

  9. From Manchester there are many better options for long haul connections. BA and Heathrow are best avoided, since domestic flights are the first cancelled if BA has one of its frequent service melt downs.

  10. Like all big companies accountants run businesses now days not managers. With BA looking at buying cheaper aircraft from Boeing. The 737 flying coffin and the 787, when you can get them, where you need a crowbar to fit into the seats which seem to be made out of concrete they are that hard. Like all major airlines they don’t seem to care what passengers would like, it’s a take it or leave it situation which puts pressure on the cabin crew. I fly BA regularly and yes the aircraft are getting old, but you still get a first class service from the crew.

  11. Being a Brit I used to use British Airways in preference to other carriers but over the last decade, or so, their passenger service has vastly declined. It's not the fault of the crew but of their management. Always try to avoid them now as you know you will be let down and they just don't care.
