I got together with my good friend Nomad from the band The Fixers and The Career Musician Podcast to put together this way-out-there cover of NBA YoungBoy’s “Opposite”. We put some Metal, Prog and Grunge into our arrangement.

I had an absolute blast creating vocal ideas over this track. It wasn’t easy because it is such a departure from the original song and from the way I usually work.

I think it turned out great though and it was a huge learning experience. I invite you all to do the same! Download the multitracks and see what YOU can come up with 🙂

  1. There is an absurd challenge in one person trying to recreate a song that was done by a group of people specializing in their various talents and having it professionally finished. I try to capture the intent and vibe of a song that has meaning, sound, or purpose that speaks to me. Hopefully we’re never just artistically copying others cause that’s boring, pointless and very irritating 😂

  2. Wohhhh how many tracks and layers did you record for just your voice?!?!? (I will download the multi tracks tomorrow)
Really cool to hear, would love to see you go through the proces of recording this

  3. Hey, I’m a songwriter who wants to actually sing my songs instead of just writing them, but I have a physical affliction, that being cleft palate and cleft lip. In your videos you state a lot of different actions needing a soft palate, which for me is just cheek tissue, would that screw me over in any way? I can understand the issue here, as this is a facial deformity with a multitude more problems. I just wanted to know if doing your warm ups to the best of my ability would ever pay off.

  4. So what inspired you to try something like this?
This sounds like it was fun
How many people were a part of this process?

And sometime when you have the chance, would you do a vocal analysis of Taka of One Ok Rock
I feel like he's a really underrated vocalist and i'd love to see your opinion of his singing
