Will the Dell branded Storage Controllers save the day? After racking AN ENTIRE 42U of DE6600 60 Bay JBODs, the NetApp branded controllers have not played nice so far. Tonight we will test out the Dell branded for MD3060e SAS controllers and see if we get lucky! 0:56 The Unboxing

  2. Here's a few things that I tried on MD1200 to get it working. Always turn on the JBOD before the host server, otherwise it will outputs random errors. And connect it to a Windows host, download firmware update tool from DELL website, you dont need serial or ethernet cable, just connect with SAS cables is should be fine, and run the firmware update tool. You should also download the disk shelf management tool from DELL website, it will show more detailed information about the JBOD, however I think with that you will need to figure out how to connect the ethernet management port to your network, and setup a ip address.
    Also with the SAS cables you have, it might not work with these JBODS or the HBA card that you are using, I don't know this for a fact, but usually IBM stuff is pretty proprietary.
    And lastly the Netapp model number for the controller you just got is E-X30030A-R6, there are some documentations from Netapp that tells you how to set it up.
