Dredd and the Raid, almost identical once the films get going, the Raid came out 1st, but Dredd was written and filmed first, but much spent longer in post production.
Dredd's whole screenplay was also leaked early on though
The Raid got the sequel, Dredd did not.
You forgot "Like Father Like Son" and "Vice Versa".
You should have mentioned 2012 with competing Snow White films: Mirror, Mirror with Lily Collins and Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart.

I would include Spectre and Mission Impossible Rouge Nation. Both are spy thrillers released in 2015, where the hero travels from Austria, to Morocco, to London, where the villain is defeated and captured alive.
You can't compare top gun and iron eagle. Yes they both have jets. But that's as close as they get.
There is one potential situation like this was averted. 20th Century Fox was making a building on fire building based on the novel The Glass Inferno by Frank M. Robinson and Thomas Scortia, while Warner Brothers was set to do another burning building movie based on The Tower by Richard Martin Stern. At first they tried suing each other to prevent the other studio from making their movie, but ultimately decided to cooperate and combine the two productions into one. That's how we got The Towering Inferno.
Saying two movies are identical because they are both set on mars like like saying two movies are identical because they are set in New York. It's ridiculous.
Didn't matter. Bug's Life and Antz are classics. Both well done.
Been a while, but the 80s brought Vice Versa and Like Father Like Son, released simultaneously and both so very similar, nearly carbon copies. Equal wastes of time
