NATO's frontline: A wake-up call from the Baltics

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has renewed concern about the possibility of conflict spreading into NATO’s frontline states, namely the Baltic republics.

In anticipation, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are taking strategic measures to bolster their security and military capabilities.

In this special report, Sky News travels along NATO’s eastern border with Russia, where civilians are mobilising to deter the threat and asks if the UK and other allies should be doing similar.

  1. Russia has set themselves up to deter Nato from attacking through Nukes. They allow russia to take ukraine and they will have even more and they will keep attacking until they have the old soviet union back which will then be the start to making them the worlds biggest power. Unstoppable russia. Weapon advancements make it this way. Right now I feel either Nato loses completely or russia will but they will not be able to coexist. Not under putin.

  2. We need a European/UK Military if we spend 3% of our combined GDP on it we would have a bigger budget than the USA and unlike the US we don’t need to be all over the world we can focus solely on security for the Eastern border making Europe a fortress. The USA is unreliable as it’s being run by traitors and cowards. We need to become a military superpower we have 700m people and a huge diverse combined economy.

  3. Being french, I remember my surprise when I learned that at the start of World War I, a third of the parliament emptied out because the members joined the front. It's quite different from the way things are done these days.

  4. Can't help but notice that none of these Media outlets are giving an explanation on WHY Russia is a threat to these other NATO countries, all boogy-man talk. I haven't seen any rhetoric from Russia about any of these countries, this is just a propaganda piece imo.

  5. It would really help if the UK significantly expanded its reserve forces, a relatively cheap option. However the UK Parliament continues to pretend there is or will not be a significant Russian threat in the near future, whilst many of its Allies clearly disagree.
